In this present age of device and technology, data is the ruling king as the amount of data we need to glance and crackle on a daily basis has rapidly increased during the last few years.

With this huge amount of data vested in our day-to-day online activities, applications were created to help assist in the ways suitable to us. This lead to the creation of spreadsheets and databases.

In the last article I defined what a spreadsheet and a database is, I'll still do the same in this article.

A spreadsheet can be described as computer software that propels a paper worksheet. The worksheet is then used to tabulate data and as well create graphs in accordance with the data. While a database is a collection of related large amounts of data that can be accessed, and filtered swiftly.

Traditionally, a database is designed to house a very large amount of data, unlike a spreadsheet which is relatively small. Most of us can testify the amount of information that is stored in a database is pretty much a lot than when compared to what we see in the spreadsheet. One of the many reasons why a spreadsheet can't accommodate too much data is because it becomes difficult for one to edit it. Conversely, databases aren't edited directly by people as there are other apps waiting to modify the contents.

They are also used in different ways. A database is used in applications that store a lot of data like a web server or in companies that need to keep track of their products and clients. A spreadsheet is commonly used to process paperwork like reports and the like that are usually printed out. It is also used to make presentations better as the graphs make it a lot easier to understand tabulated data.
