The only thing really good about bitcoin is that it is digital scarcity.
Nobody can go inflating the supply
And thus, it could be sound money...
BUT, most of bitcoin is sat locked up in accounts that haven't moved in years, and may be lost
or may be just waiting to be disbursed.
Bitcoin could be the ultimate tool for tracking every transaction you make.

In theory the supply could be changed even to the point of eliminating the limit that gives Bitcoin its scarcity trait, but not only would this be extremely difficult and counterproductive to the nature of Bitcoin...it would also leave a record. This leads me to my next point about some reservations I've observed in some people who are uncomfortable getting involved with something often associated to crime by sensationalist media. Blockchain doesn't make crime-related financial transactions more difficult to investigate than fiat (normal) money, the opposite is true. Even though ownership of assets is generally not associated to a name, since everything can be tracked following the money to its source or final beneficiary it's only a matter of looking and waiting for a mistake. Unlawful activity conducted with cash money is way more difficult to investigate in my opinion.
