Hi, guys! I decided to enhance some stuff on Santa Jump despite it’s been published. So, you can see the result now.
Ok, first problem I tried to fix was rendering Santa backward to building blocks and windows. Especially window visor hided one side of a Santa when he was jumping. So, I decided to move it in front of windows. It is done with a help of Access Renderer Features settings. Now it is much better in my opinion.
Then I wanted to add dynamic slash for Santa’s lollipop because it seemed to be boring. Now it looks like this.
The same thing was with broken icicle. It wasn’t fun so I changed it to new one with explosion.
I also consider switching off post processing because of performance issues. So, I didn’t stop thinking of it.
Then there was bug with snow saving. I resolved it, but then I noticed also performance drop because of this snow. I tried to change number of particles and shape from box to edge but it’s still trouble with it. Even change with shader to mobile didn’t fix that. I leave it for a fresh thought, until we have what do we have.
I also switched some shaders from URP Lit to URP Simple lit, or Unlit at all. It brought very interesting effect on some of the materials, especially for Santa. It is highlighted now.
I also added target frame rate to Start() with amount of 60.
Then I made a workaround light around building. And baked it. It is pretty cool.
After that I textured building blocks in blender with images from iconpacks.net. And it became more colorful and fairy as for me.
I have also implemented magic orbs for giftboxes. When you gather them the magic orb with the same color appears.
Then I switched musical theme to a new one. And now it plays even while Santa is jumping.
Also, I added a snow transition animation. It is made with a help of spritesheet. Interesting effect.
As you might see I painted some white frozen parts on edges of background image. Let it be.
And the last thing I changed – is an app icon. Now it looks like this.
Now it’s time for a bonus. It’s not a paid promotion but just a thankginig to the author. Recently I finished useful course “Unity optimization for mobile devices” by Pete Jepson. And I thoroughly recommend to take it. it is worth the money.
And that’s all! I haven’t published changes that I described in this devlog because there are still some moments I would like to resolve. Thanks for watching. Please subscribe to channel, like and comment for its growing. That was Nikfort Games. Bye!
