Telegram Levels Up With Massive Updates!
Telegram is the quintessential social media marketing tool for building communities in the crypto space. Today's announcement of feature updates brings their game to a whole new level.
Telegram Adds Video Conferencing!
Plus a huge suite of additional features that puts Telegram on par if not ahead of all other social media apps in terms of dynamic group communication.
The video group calls feature announced today allows users to turn on their cameras or share their screens during voice chats in groups.
Group video calls is available on all devices including tablets and laptops which definitely puts this technology in the consideration when it comes to work from home, tele-health, and online and remote learning.

Animated Everything!
In addition to group chats Telegram promises to have some fun features like animated backgrounds which users can create and share themselves. There will also be stickers and animated emoji's because no modern chat experience is complete with out them. After all isn't an emoji worth a thousand words!
Telegram claims that animated backgrounds in a chat app is a first. I think what they're trying to do is give users additional ways of customizing the experience. How can this be used by commercial and personal brands we shall see, but regardless this allow for communities to have a little and play around with customizing the user experience.
A Community Mangers Wet Dream
In the crypto space a Telegram channel is arguable the most important communication tool at your disposal. At virtually no cost a CM is able to instantly share information with a community, solicit feedback, pin important information, communicate to a group or individually at will, and generally communicate information dynamically with community members in a variety of ways.
Discord, Slack, and Signal all do these things fairly efficiently but Telegram has become synonymous with crypto more so than these other tools. The only other tool

How Private Is Telegram
I love privacy like many of you, so where does Telegram stand in terms of user data privacy?
According to Telegram they take privacy seriously, and aim to protect conversation data from third party snooping and marketers. This would suggest that selling your conversation and profile data is not part of their business model. I can get behind this!
Q: There's illegal content on Telegram. How do I take it down?
All Telegram chats and group chats are private amongst their participants. We do not process any requests related to them.
Looks like a hands off approach, they don't want to know what happens in private groups. Part of a private group and don't like what they do, then leave. I don't know that this absolves them of any particular legal liability.
Your data is not private from Telegram as an organization is what's happening here. They don't allow third party access and wont sell your data but as part of their policy they will "process" your personal data in order to provide an innovative [product to users, and to protect themselves against fraudulent activities.
Is this a happy medium between full on encryption and shilling your data to anyone with a buck?

It's more private than Discord as far as I can tell. But Discord is a great tool as well, very similar feature snow. Discord is always pumping out updates too..

I believe you might have phrased it perfectly. It is not the most encrypted app out there BUT it is much better than most of the other ones AND it is user friendly.
So I guess this is a good compromise.

Haha right? like my girlfriend just said "It's private-ish", I like Telegrams stance on privacy,.. and when you need end to end encryption you always have signal which has become a staple for me as well.

Very high end engineers and IT people tell me signal is the true privacy app. I believe Telegram: some people have the private keys 🔑 whereas at signal: nobody does.
But I am bringing that back from memory.

I confess that when I first got Telegram I didn't feel comfortable, but after using it and reading a bit about its benefits, I'm starting to get used to it.
One of my colleagues told me that there would be a new update. He is very excited.

The UX is a bit different than anything else but I think it's simple enough that its easy for conversation to flow, and to catch pinned messages from time to time. Waiting to attend my first crypto conference or project kickoff call on Telegram... soon!

Telegram is ok. It's about as cluttered as my Discord. I have a bit more functionality within discord with the bots n whatnot, but there is the ability to bridge discord/telegram.
I'd love it if HIVE had a Mattermost server built out all web3 stylized, specific for different HIVE projects.

I know that in this update Telegram has improved the UX around bots, by adding a "bot menu".
Discord is a beast for sure, have had some great gaming stream shares and crystal clear voice chats..

That's a really cool update @agr8buzz. Privacy isn't a big deal for many in my country so most people will be happy to use Telegram. It's definitely better than Whatsapp. 😂

It's still several steps ahead of many of its competitors. Their chats are more secure and they provide an option to do secret chats for more privacy concerned users.
Signal is more secure but it doesn't offer as many exciting features that telegram has.
