Tesla Movie Review

Tesla follows the story of the ultra mad scientist and genius we all know as Nikola Tesla. The movie played out like an Autobiography of the innovator who was so ahead of his time, that his innovations are still in use today.

The movie was sort of like a documentary/Autobiography/reenactment of the events surrounding his life. Most of it was based on facts that you can find with a simple google search. The narrator of the movie was Eve Hewson, who also doubled as the daughter of JP Morgan in the recreation of the events.

The "Villain" in very loose sense was Thomas Edison played by Kyle MacLachlan. Tesla and Edison had a nerd beef of sorts with Thomas being a proponent of Direct Current, while Tesla is a proponent of Alternating current. It is rather interesting because both these concepts are applied in our everyday life and nobody even gives a shit.

The major difference between both of them was their eye for business. Despite being a brilliant scientist, Thomas Edison was also an impressive business man and turned most of his ideas into wealth. Tesla, on the other hand, was the ultra nerd and suffered from his larger than life innovations at the time because his dreams were beyond most people's understanding at the time.

One other thing I noticed is the difference in culture between past years and today; back then science nerd were the cool kids and women were flocking over them. Nowadays, people like Tesla would be outcasts and treated like crap by society.

It was an autobiography but since it is a Hollywood flick, they included some of that razzle-dazzle and lightning flashes in some of his experiments. Like the scene where he was working on the famed Tesla coil that finds application today.

The movie also featured some "entertainment" cut scenes like when they jump to present time for tesla to sing and some weird shit like that. To be completely honest, it has almost zero entertainment value but is pretty good for information. It is one of those movies that you get to learn something from but not really enjoy because it isn't fun.

I would have preferred more focus on his origins, and childhood in Europe and a dramatic plot that culminates in him moving to America. The part of the story that was rrnacted was alright at best and just smacked of ordinarilliness.

RATING: 4/10

I’ve always thought Nikola Tesla was a very interesting person and had no idea there was a Hollywood film about his work and struggles.

I’ll see if I can find a version to watch somewhere.
Cheers for the heads up!

You're welcome bro.Like most geniuses, he was a social misfit, and couldn't actually just socialise, you know? He didn't get the money and recognition his inventions deserved because he was also not much of an economist like Thomas Edison. Good stuff
