Take a look at Dan Browns latest book called Origin and the theory that we have evolved from humans into a sort of hybrid human / digital model . It's pretty good reading. And there's somebody in it trying to kill off the world as well which adds drama.

I have only read DaVinci Code, but I should probably read more in general - since I haven't read anything in about a decade :D
