I haven't seen people who are using rice straw here @eunoia101. The common i saw is that they are using banana leaves. I remember some groups teach us how to grow it and made a demo in my aunt's house before. I am amaze how the mushroom grow out of those banana leaves but I already forgot how they did it. im only 13 years old that time. I only remember it seems there is some seeds beeing put in it and then they covered those dried banana leaves with plastic.

Oww banana leaves, that was not an oyster mushroom, we called that one 'volvaleira' or some native bottom mushroom in the Philippines.
