Connecting the dot between Technology and Acts of kindness.
The world right now is very different from what it used to be in the past. There was a time when it was considered "risky" to discuss with someone who you haven't seen before. Now, doing things remotely and meeting folks on the web has become the new normal.
That's the card we are getting dealt by reality and it's interesting to see how this technologically advanced world is influencing several areas of life. It sure has affected the wealth creation model and it has also influenced education and work-life. This begs an interesting question;
How does technology influence acts of kindness?
I know there is a relationship between technology and acts of kindness although it's very difficult to track these because the act of kindness we hear of on a wide scale does not necessarily speak about the intent behind that act. For what it's worth, a lot of people record themselves giving alms and doing acts of kindness. They share the video online and say "We want to encourage more people to act kindly".
Well, how sure are we that the intent behind recording that video is to genuinely show what kindness is all about? Some do it because they want to get 5 minutes of fame on socials through that video. Yeah! The devil is always in the detail and that's why looking at the impact of technology on acts of kindness can be a tricky thing.
If we choose to look beyond the intent, it becomes quite obvious that the availability of technology has made it easier for our acts of kindness to spread far and wide. People who are knowledgeable in a particular area of life now share what they know with more people due to the availability of technology. YouTube gets lots of sticks as a place where people burn time. However, it has also been a tool used to spread kindness.
Think about it for a moment; every time you comment on a YouTube video to appreciate the good work done by the person who uploaded the video, what do you think you are doing? That's an act of kindness. A mild one, but it still counts. The same thing applies to all other social media platforms. You interact with folks, speak respectfully, and help people understand things that they are curious about. That's pretty much a decent act of kindness.
Do you know how easy it has become to check up on someone who's continents apart? Today is a really memorable day for me and I had calls and texts from people who are States, Countries, and Continents apart. That act of kindness from them wouldn't have been possible if there was no technology. So, I'm convinced that technology influences acts of kindness.
Kindness Journal
As part of the self-reflective and self-sacrificing exercise for this collaborative challenge, we were encouraged to keep a kindness Journal for the week. I'm keeping mine simple and straight to the point;
Monday: I got in touch with my little sis who enrolled into a tutorial academy as part of her preparation for admission into University and helped her to take care of her t-fare for the week.
Tuesday: I shared some calming songs with a friend who was passing through a rough patch.
Wednesday: Nigeria is making it harder for us to sell our USDT for Fiat, but I helped a couple of folks to solve their transaction issues.
Thursday: I said a lot of "Thank You" to the love of my life for making this day a very special day for me. She's an amazing lady and I made her know just how awesome she is.
I will continue keeping a record of these in my journal as we go through the adventure of this month of Kindness.
Thanks For Not Missing Any Full-stop or Comma.

Engaging in acts of kindness and sharing them on social media is fine, but if the intention is solely for gaining fame, it becomes questionable. Doing good deeds for genuine reasons is commendable, regardless of whether they are shared online or not.
True. The intention behind each "act of kindness" cannot be overlooked. We have to pay close attention to those and we have to be genuine about any act of kindness we get into
That little act of kindness which we show by commenting or even hitting the like button on social media really goes a long way. Technology has made it really really easy for us to show kindness to people both far and near to us.

Yeah. That's one of the ways that technology can be leveraged on to spread acts of kindness across to many other people. Technology makes it possible for us to show that kindness to a lot more people.
I share your thoughts in this writing. I think that technology can work very well to continue spreading kindness to others, although many do not see it that way. But it is possible. Excellent. #dreemerforlife
Yeah. Tech has that role to play in spreading kindness. It works really well and should be taken into account while considering how to spread kindness
You've rightly said, kindness on the Internet can be tricky atimes especially if their intent is for their greedy gain. While there's the negative side of it, there's also a positive aspect of it which is also appreciated.
Glad you were able to show kindness throughout the week

Bro. It seems like a lot of things plays out in that manner. We can easily spot the advantage and disadvantage of a lot of things. For the most part, it's usually left for us to decide on what we want to do.
Rightly said
Yes there are unfortunately people who will do that, I think the real question for me is what is the intent in thier heart behind this. I am really self concious and hyper concerned that some may see this challenge as a way of gaining viwes, I just pray that most will see that is not the case and I have not for one moment felt that way from anybody taking part. It is encouraging to see these conversations and posts taking place, we can all learn more about one another, different cultures, traditions and beliefs. It is good to talk and have these conversations.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and kindness diary. I appreciate being able to collaborate this month.
I enjoy being part of this challenge and you did a great job of coming up with these talking points. There is so much to learn as we think deeply about kindness and also read what others have to share regarding it.
The pleasure is all mine my friend.
