Hi hivers - Hola hivers

How is my dear Hive community? I hope that very well, today I invite you to prepare a coffee or tea, look for the glasses if you need them and sit for a long time to visit with me the museum of natural sciences of the city of Buenos Aires, one of the largest museums I have ever seen. visited with more than 210 years of history and with the most incredible paleontological collection that I have had the pleasure of appreciating in my entire life.

We can find this museum in the Centennial Park of the Caballito neighborhood in the Argentine capital, so without further ado, welcome to the museum and of course, if you have already visited it, do not forget to leave me your opinions at the end of the post in the comments.

Mysteries of the Sea

In this space you can take a break from the tour, most of them start on the upper floor but my friend and I started on the ground floor, arriving at this room where you can see a pretty cool display of fish and sharks, I could highlight the the Megalodon one of the largest sea predators in all history, the basking shark which is the second largest in the world and the sunfish which is the heaviest fish in the world reaching up to 1000 kg.

.

I was very struck by an area that recreated the seabed with different types of aquatic species, the highlight is that it was contaminated by human waste, making it difficult for the animals to live, this should draw the attention of visitors and encourage them to take care of the environment because many species confuse human waste with food and most of the cases die.

Paleontology

This is without a doubt one of my favorite rooms in the entire museum, walking among these fossils and imagining what life was like hundreds of millions of years ago, a natural world, where these gigantic beings lived together in a hostile environment and if the trace of human beings, is a great place to understand the dimensions of these dinosaurs, some are larger or smaller than anyone imagines.

This museum houses many researchers, who collaborate with the museum's exhibits and Argentina is a privileged place as far as fossils are concerned, in the very construction of the city and ports, during the excavations many fossils were obtained that are now exhibited in this museum.

Paleontologia

I could highlight the Mosasaurio an aquatic creature that could reach 6 meters in length and had an appearance similar to a dolphin, it dates from the Upper Cretaceous.

The Giant Plesosaurus of Patagonia another aquatic creature with a similar appearance to a turtle, fed on fish or invertebrates and could measure up to 8 meters long and 4 meters wide, another incredible specimen dating from the Cretaceous Superior.

Also of note are land species such as the Megaraptop, a large predator with large front claws and legs that allowed it to run, a carnivore almost 8 meters tall that dates back to the Cretaceous of the Mesozoic Era.

Obviously, the Tyrannosaurus Rex could not be missing, the largest predator of the dinosaurs, a 12-meter-high carnivore, another specimen dating from the Cretaceous.

Another remarkable but herbivorous species is the Amargasaurus, similar to a horse but with long spikes that came from its vertebrae, it could measure up to 10 meters and dates from the Upper Cretaceous.

Impossible not to name in this list the Argentine Sauropod family of brontosaurus, which is one of the largest herbivores known, it is recognized by a long neck and also dates from the mid-Cretaceous.

The exhibition is very wide and incredible. The ones named above are my favorites and I hope you enjoy the dinosaurs as much as I do.

Antarctica

This exhibition is very striking, and how many of you have visited Antarctica? I, for example, never had the opportunity and beyond animal planet, I know very little about the fauna that is found there with such a hostile climate.
.

In this part of the museum we can see birds in their different stages of growth, starfish and for me the most striking thing is a sperm whale skull which is the largest toothed cetacean, which is impressive because it is very different from the appearance of the animal, because most of its head is occupied by spermaceti, better known as whale oil.

Malacology

This sector of the museum shows us one of the largest collections of marine and terrestrial molluscs that I have seen, you can spend hours reading the descriptions of hundreds of specimens, both native to Argentina and the rest of the world, you can also appreciate handicrafts that include mollusks such as necklaces.

The collection houses specimens that need a magnifying glass to be able to appreciate them as other very large ones, especially those with vibrant colors such as Chlamys senatoria nobilis or with external formations similar to horns caught my attention.
