I've had bad luck with refurbished electronics. Refurbished usually means that the product was returned to the store. Sometimes refurbished simply means that the item didn't meet the buyer's expectations. Unfortunately, sometimes it means that the product was broken.

Here's the problem. Some companies don't fix the broken merchandise. They just resell it. The second buyer gets the broken product. They send it back. The vendor resells it. A third buyer gets the broken product and sends it back.

This stupid waste of human life continues until some stupid sap gets the broken product and doesn't send it back.

Over half of my refurbished electronic buys in the last decade were broken or had serious defects. Buying refinished from a local computer enthusiast is a different story. Online shops selling refurbished have a bad track record.
