My new smartphone - Xiaomi Redmi 12C (2025.08.11)

The touchscreen of my older smartphone (Motorola Moto G22) broke after it fell down on Friday (on 2025.08.08) morning.

Yesterday (on Sunday) (on 2025.08.10) morning one of my friends gifted me a Xiaomi Redmi 12C.

I moved my SIM cards from my older smartphone to my new smartphone.

I successfully installed most of the applications on it too, and I successfully logged in on them too.

The Google Maps currently does not work on it for some reason.

I touch its icon, and the program simply stops running before it would load.

In the next few days I will download and update a little bit higher than 4 GB system update (and maybe more) on my new smartphone.

Maybe the Google Maps too will work after that.

The good thing is that Android 13 is already running on it, and that is still supported (until the January of 2026).

My Motorola Moto G22 runs Android 12, which was supported only until the March of this year.

By the way, my Motorola Moto G22 smartphone is still working, but its touchscreen is currently not usable because of the damage.

I am looking for a telephone service, which would replace the touchscreen of my Motorola Moto G22 smartphone.

There are personal photos, videos, data, contacts, entire WhatsApp chats on it, and I would rather save them, if possible (there are no backups of many things).

Hopefully I find a service, which have a replacement touchscreen for my Motorola Moto G22 smartphone.

So far I asked one in San Isidro, but they do not have a touchscreen for that smartphone.

By the way, nowadays I do not have a laptop, nor a PC.

One of my friends said that many things (at least the photos, the videos, and probably the contacts too) probably can be saved with a laptop with a USB cable, even with the broken screen.

At least one of my friends have a laptop, but I have not tried this option so far.

Either way, with a PC or with a laptop, making backups would also be easier.

And probably it would indeed be better to save the important files to the cloud too or to some kind of online storage too (of course except the sensitive/private data).

Oh no! I think we all know that sinking feeling in our tummies when something goes wrong with our phones. All our data, our photos... I have learned from experience of dropping phones in club toilets and having my phone pinched out of y handbag to have both backup an security set up via my google account. It's a real life saver! I can even track my phone's location. Best of luck to you! I hope your new/ previously loved phone will help you out.

My previous smartphone, the Motorola Moto G22 is still functional (in terms of software, so the Android is still running on it), only its touchscreen is damaged in a way that the text on it is unreadable in most parts of the touchscreen, and the touchscreen is not working on most of its parts.

With a touchscreen replacement, the data on the smartphone certainly can be backed up.

This is 100%, because it is visible that the Android is still running on it in aeroplane mode (which I previously set to save battery charge), it shows the date/time, and the alarm is still ringing on it at 07:00 in the weekends, as previously I have set that too, and apparently even the Bluetooth can be turned on on it. The battery charging also works.

Maybe most (or all) of the data could be backed up by a PC/laptop with USB connection.

At least one of my friends have a laptop, but we have not tried it so far. Both of us are busy nowadays, and the electricity is also limited on this finca (it is not available in our small wood houses, only in the kitchen and in the office).

But probably soon we will try connecting my Motorola Moto G22 smartphone to a laptop to see if any backup is possible that way.

Well I'm so glad t hear you are able to retrieve precious data! Never mind the horrible experience of losing or breaking a phone, the most awful thing is losing your personal data.
