I always wonder whether what we have seen in movies such as Terminator series will be real in the future.

At this point, we are very far from that level of sophistication. But should we get there, just in case, we better have a "kill switch". 😀
We didin't that the technology would come at this level 30 years ago :)
I'd say predictions of this kind existed a long time ago - way earlier than 30 years ago. As well as dystopian visions of machines taking over the world.
