The miracle of male birth!

Nah, this post isn't about some social justice warrior bullshit. Or the recent show on Netflix about a guy getting pregnant πŸ˜‚

Instead, it's about a real story a friend send me today. The story of a biological male, at least when it comes to chromosomes, that gave birth to twins!

And although the babies came from donor eggs, they were grown in the man's own..uterus ! Wait, what?

So here's what actually happened.

The birth happened 7 years ago in India where a woman gave birth to two twins.

But the woman was genetically a man with a condition known as XY gonadal dysgenesis or Swyer syndrome. Tldr, she had female characteristics but the XY chromosomes a typical male has.

XY gonadal dysgenesis, also known as Swyer syndrome, is a type of hypogonadism in a person whose karyotype is 46,XY. Though they typically have normal female external genitalia, the person has functionless gonads, fibrous tissue termed "streak gonads", and if left untreated, will not experience puberty

Humans with Swyer syndrome develop with external phenotypes typical of females and nonfunctional gonads instead of ovaries or testes. source and more info

Now, the fella in question did have an "infantile uterus". According to the news reports from back then she wanted to have kids and after a course of hormonal treatments and shit, her immature uterus developed to a level that would be able to sustain a pregnancy.

Next, the doctors implanted a couple of donor eggs and boom, 9 months later... twins! Sure, ok. It wasn't that easy and there were other complex issues that needed intervention. After all, assisted pregnancy is a tough nut even in regular women. Let alone in a woman with male chromosomes πŸ˜…

According to the scientists responsible for this miracle, there have only been a handful cases like this one.

Anyways, cool story! Here's the news article where I learned about this really interesting case if you fancy to read more on it.

I can say this is the better plot twist here than in Netflix show.. I believed that thumbnail and thought it's gonna be Korean show for real.

Man this is just so Horrible thing to even imagine. :! Scientists were way ahead of their time.

This is indeed a miracle , I have never come across this issue because, sometime, the impossibilities are always made possible.

I took a shit that broke in half and looked like twins once. I did not weigh them to see if they were identical. Missed opportunity :(

It's a pretty crazy story and it looks like it won't happen in most cases. I thought it was pretty much a myth because I haven't heard of any real stories about it.

!LOL

the uterus is the key part, without it no man can give birth ( what a fucked up sentence :P ).

That must be tough, and confusing! I wonder if one day physically normal guys will choose to carry a child - scary thought!

This reminds me of the time my infant son gave birth to me. Ah, the miracle of life. ❀️

Wait... I don't have an infant son. This has been an M. Night Shamamalamalamalamalamaman moment.

@trumpman A truly meaningful story. I heard my teacher talk about this disease when I was still in college, and those afflicted with it are usually quite tall. Fortunately, Swyer syndrome doesn't occur too often.
