Robotics in civil construction.

Nowadays, the construction industry depends, to a great extent, on the advances offered by technology to reduce production costs, construction, design, effort and man-hours, which in turn translates into higher productivity and higher profits. That is why, in this era, civil construction, which is responsible for the design and construction of small and large urban projects, is betting on the use of robotics.

Today I want to introduce you to a breakthrough that enhances the work of workers and takes care of them by providing strength and accuracy in their movements. This is THE GUARDIAN XO, this is a robotic skeleton that was designed in 2017 by the American company Sarcos launched in 2020 the first skeletons that allow a man to lift and transport from one place to another up to 90 kilos without risk of any kind. It is not a robotic arm the The Guardian XO is a skeleton that places around the worker's body and can be on it for 8 hours at a time executing high impact work. This device has the advantage of being fully electric so it does not require hydraulic pumps for its operation.

In terms of the advantages it offers are:

Increases the worker's strength without limiting the operator's movements. The skeleton allows you to double up to 20 times the strength capacity of your operator.

Reduces muscle injuries and joint damage for workers who must use their strength when transporting heavy materials.

Increases worker productivity and decreases hours spent on site construction by facilitating heavy work.

It has an integrated battery so it is a device that offers continuous operation, its batteries are interchangeable.

This design has an integrated control system called "get out of the way" which makes use of integrated motion sensors to eliminate latency by detecting the operator's movements in just a few milliseconds.

24 degrees of freedom of movement are useful when you need to perform jobs that require strength and precision where larger machines do not have room to operate.

Its mechanical arms can be locked according to the needs of the operator, this system adds value to the design because the operator can be performing a job with his hands inside the suit while the mechanical arms perform other jobs.

For the care and protection of the operator, it has a high control system to respond to sudden energy losses, its hardware and software detect and execute a passive braking to avoid injuries to the operator during an activity.

In its safety system it has a lifting loop for coupling which allows the connection of the suit avoiding falls and protecting the operator.

As you can see this robotic suit is an interesting and very important mix of artificial intelligence and human intelligence with the strength and power of machines to bring to the civil construction industry an advantage when performing works of great magnitude where it requires a force greater than any human being can develop.
