MAINTENANCE SERVICE ON AN ELEVATOR || ELEVATOR ENGINEERING INSIDER

avatar

For almost two weeks if not more, I have been at home and not gone for any maintenance or repairs on an elevator. Due to the critical state my country was in, it was really tough for everyone to go out to work though, it has been well expected to go for one since maintenance services occurs mostly on month ending.

So what I would be sharing here is nothing different from the maintenance post I have always shared. I only make use of hive as a diary of what I do at work.

I visited three places today all in one city. The first place had a total of two elevators and a floor, the second has 4 elevator and 4 floors while the third has 4 elevators with 7 floors each.

Maintenance services on an elevator requires some little checks and mostly cleanings like

1. Cleaning the landing door tracks: too bad, I didn't take a picture of it but it is very easy to identify. The landing door tracks is those metal rails you see on the floor just when you are about entering the elevator.

2. Filling the oil pots of the elevator:

Over here, this is the elevator oil pot. It has a good amount of oil in it so I didn't bother adding more into it. More so there are two oil pots in an elevator.

3. Cleaning the landing door roller rails:

Over here, I was removing some discrepancies that is on the rail. Doing this will ensure smooth opening and closing of the elevator doors.

During this maintenance, we make sure the lift is left running at best condition and then attend to the complains made about the lift.

That's all for now, thanks for reading through.

Lol.. I liked the way you tagged it, serious question. I don't have any than to tell you to remain calm and press the alarm button while you are in the elevator or call the emergency number written in the lift.

But note: some doors can still be opened while still in the lift but it depends on the person who installed the elevator. Most times over here, when we install an elevator, we remove the hook that locks the door when the elevator closes so that people can open it while they are trapped in the elevator.

If you get trapped and the elevator can't be opened from inside, then you have no other choice than to be patient enough for someone to free you.

Thanks man, you should write these things! How to act when you're stuck in an elevator. Because most people would panic, you know.

Lol.. Yeah I have seen the way people act. It will be funny to me if I get stuck and I am the only person that can release myself. It hasn't happened before but I am imagining it.

I have been trapped before but I am never alone when I go to work on elevators. At least I would have someone who knows how to open the doors.

Glad there was someone with you, I wonder if that happened to you and you were panicking too!

Lol... I don't think I would panic. Never really had that fear because of how I began with elevators.

The first time I saw an elevator life was in 2018 which was the first day I started to work with my father on elevators. I think having him beside me the first days actually made me beat any fear I would have had if he wasn't there at first.
