The following article is a prospective, randomized, double blind, placebo-controlled trial which compared vitamin D3 supplementation with placebo. The main outcome studied was a diagnosis of influenza A infection, for which it showed a significant effect. Vitamin D was also effective in reducing asthma attacks, which was one of the measured secondary outcomes.
