WATER MONSTERS🧠🧫 / MONSTRUOS DE AGUA🔬🔬

The more curious I am with my experiments, the more I learn about the power of nature, at first glance a drop of water tells us absolutely nothing! but when I use the microscope I realize how much life we can find in that same drop! everything is beautiful when I see those plant organisms full of chlorophyll, but nature has a dark side, sometimes I am nervous because I get some scary and dark organisms! In this post we are going to see things that you do not imagine exist in water!😣😮

I was going on a walk inside the garden and 3 artificial lagoons without water processing, so they seemed ideal to carry out an identification of microorganisms in stagnant water! only unlike other samples as a researcher I wanted to identify very strange organisms! that's why I took some samples of these waters to take them to my laboratory!😃😃

IMG_20210602_144942.jpg

I had some good expectations with these samples, as you can see it has a yellowish color clearly it had not been processed in a long time and the chemical decomposition of the leaves in the water is observed! is what makes it turn that color by adding all the algae that grow on it!🤩🤩

So that you have an idea of the living organisms that exist on the planet, as you can see on my slide there are two drops of water, and here I can find thousands or millions of microscopic organisms! how much is there on the planet? and it is that nature is a hunter and a poacher! because in this same drop of water you could find many lethal species, ready to enter our digestive system! And that excites me, can you imagine finding a deadly parasite here? it was basically on my fingers ...😶😶

I want to first tell you that it is not easy for us to record organisms when they move very fast in the water, I cannot use the phone support, move the slide at the same time, therefore there are some videos that my phone goes out of focus, in this take I managed to photograph one species with flagellar movement, although it moves very fast I could take it! the flagellum is a whip-shaped mobile appendix that some organisms have and that is used to move around!😮😮

at high speed I pass this strange and strange looking individual! I went to my freshwater organism identification guide and found it to be a (freshwater mite). The name of mite comes from the Greek * Akares * which means tiny. Most of the mites reaching a few millimeters.Family: Hydrachnellae, In the bibliography freshwater mites are presented as beings with showy colors (yellow, reddish, dark green ) and almost transparent, which apparently our mite with its dark and practically opaque color is not in the line described. They are predatory animals, when they bite her victim they dump her gastric juices with the digestive enzymes into her, liquefying her and thus being able to suck her. They feed on ostracods, water fleas in the water sample there were also "Peracantha truncata", and other smaller mites.😮😥

If you are afraid of spiders, imagine taking a shower in some bodies of water ... And the freshwater mite will walk on your body! very difficult to record but I got a quick shot and how can you see the explosive movement it has !!!😣😣

hundreds of ornaments walk through the tiny drop of water, even though they don't look horrible, they give that feeling of fear, because there are so many things moving in the background and you don't know what they are? if they are damaged? parasitic? this time ... There are things that I won't be able to discover since I would need a super microscope!🤔🤔

Not only dark and incredible nature gives me this beauty is a Scenedesmus, basically it is a colony of algae! When I read my guide I discover that it is difficult to impossible to differentiate some species of these algae! I respect these friends for being the microscopic equivalent of a tree! they live in bodies of water with incidence of sunlight! decompose CO2 and produce oxygen in the water!🌿🌾

There are organisms that do not appear in my book and to identify them I have to look for some specialists, but I see no need, can I get this specimen that looks like a nematode? I don't know if it is a parasite because it is very large and its structure does not correspond to one! I can infer that it must be a larval stage of another type of animal such as an insect! but I also have doubts because it was not macroscopic, I needed the lens to see it! it looks scary so it should be on my list!🤔😮

Euglenoid it is one of the best known groups of flagellate protists, commonly present in fresh water, especially when it is rich in organic matter. Many euglenoids have chloroplasts and produce energy through photosynthesis, while others feed by phagocytosis or pinocytosis. They are located within the phylum Euglenozoa and their cellular structure is typical of this group😲😲

The next monster is this strange-looking organism, it has a tail and two jaws. It is the first impression it caused me, its movement is very particular because it can perform movements on its own axis! has a slower momentum than the water mite and easier to predict! let's see who it is ...🤔🤔

After consulting my guide, classify this freshwater monster as Trichocerca, it is a rotifero as a polite basically we can find it in any stagnant water! It has a very peculiar body and a very fast movement in a helical shape! I dare take a risk with the species (Brachyura)🙃🙃

Phyllopods (Phyllopoda) are a subclass of branchiopod crustaceans, including but not limited to the Triops and cladocerans. We are in front of the water fleas! that's why it looks! they inhabit shallow bodies of water, some feed on aquatic plants and others filter!😮😮

Copepods are a subclass of small maxillopod crustaceans, widespread throughout the planet, mainly forming part of zooplankton, although we can also find semi-terrestrial species. There are species adapted to almost all types of aquatic environments😫😫

I would have been surprised if you didn't find mosquito larvae in stagnant water leading into the summer.
