Today 11/02/2021 at 23:00 the constellation Canis Minor appears in front of my telescope, it is a very small conjugation of stars, it is not easy to see when the sky presents a moderate light pollution, but I still managed to register it. The common name that is given to this constellation is the "little dog" despite not being recorded in the book of Ptolemy, the constellation of Canis Minor is part of the group of modern 88! come in my post to discover everything about her!๐ŸŒŒ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿซ๐Ÿช

๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ•ต๏ธโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ”ญ๐Ÿ”ญ

When I went to consult my digital bibliographic reference I was able to discover this beautiful and small constellation that bears the name "Little Dog" and that is why it is called "Canis Minor" although the Starry Night Celestron program tells us that the publication of Ptolemy and the pointed in the astral plane, so it can also be classified as a primitive constellation! Recognizing the Canis Minor is very easy because they are two bright stars that meet with a straight line!
๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿซ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿคฉ

Well, to get Can Minor in the sky, we must first locate ourselves in the SOUTH, at about 10 degrees N, the constellation of the "little dog" is small compared to other modern constellations, but in it its brightest star stands out, which was baptized as "Procyon" has a magnitude of 0.5, the constellation is located about 11.4 million light years from our solar system, classified as a Binary system, that is, composed of two stars, one of them white-yellow that has a brightness x7 times more than our sun!
๐Ÿช๐ŸŒŒ๐Ÿคฏ

BRIGHTEST STARS?๐Ÿง ๐Ÿช/ESTRELLAS MAS BRILLANTES๐Ÿ•ต๏ธโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ”ญ

img_7589.jpg

Well our brightest star in Canis Minor is: alpha Procyon or Pro-Cion, it has an astronomical scale measured in magnitude of 0.5, it is very bright and yellowish, it is located about 11 million light years, it has an orbital period of 40 years, then we have our second main star, Beta: o Gomeisa: it has a magnitude much higher than 2.90 if we compare it with the alpha, it is not very bright and seeing it in the sky is difficult, we must have a little experience! Incredibly it is 170 million light years from our solar system, compared to our sun it is +170 times brighter!

Here we can clearly see the two brightest stars of our "Canis Minor" the largest and brightest is the alpha star, then the smallest is the beta "Gomeisa", obviously depending on where we are we can see the constellation in different ways, if you are In the south you may see the constellation in an inclined or horizontal way, the stars are not always seen from the same position because we remember that the earth is rotating, this constellation is very good to be seen in winter!๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿช

Well actually its name tells us many things, being a small dog it symbolized a "hunting dog" that followed Orion when he made his great adventures! Although in the sky there is not only a hunting dog, there is a constellation called "Canis Major" the latter stands out because it has the brightest star in the sky! It was baptized as "Sirius", since the ancient Egyptians the observation of Canis was already described since it was represented with the floods of the imposing river Nile!๐ŸŒŒ๐Ÿช๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿช๐Ÿช๐Ÿช๐ŸŒŒ๐ŸŒŒ๐ŸŒŒ๐Ÿง ๐Ÿง ๐Ÿง ๐Ÿง
๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿ’ฅ

Well to locate the constellation of Canis Minor I used my real time Skymaps application, since the sky was very polluted and it was very difficult for me to get it with the naked eye! but after locating it, I managed to take very close photos of what its two stars look like and I also managed to point them with a long-range laser so we don't confuse it!๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿช๐ŸŒŒ๐Ÿง ๐Ÿง ๐Ÿง

Although I do not have a powerful telescope I can show you here in this photo the real coloration of the star, as the reference says "a white-yellow coloration" it is very interesting to see it closely to observe its details!
๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜จ๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿ’ฅ

img_7594.jpg

Due to its small size compared to alpha and its higher magnitude I managed to take a good photo showing the characteristics of the beta star of the constellation! it has a magnitude of "2.89" and is bluish-white in color. It has a temperature of "11,500K" this is 250+ than our sun!๐Ÿ”ญ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ˜
๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿช๐Ÿ’ฅ
