Latest Privacy Controversy Shows WhatsApp Must be Transparent

avatar

There is trouble brewing again in the WhatsApp community, with a new privacy controversy. Users are abandoning the platform and there is a lack of real clarity by this Facebook owned social platform.

It is time for WhatsApp to step-up and clearly articulate what specific user and meta data will be shared with Facebook. Transparency builds trust.

If they are not willing to share, then it is likely that their privacy team and lawyers already know it is a detriment to their users and they don’t want further scrutiny. If it is to the benefit of servicing their users and is reasonable, then WhatsApp should be excited to share the information to showcase their ethics.
