RE: Covid spread at a party and statistics

Solid analysis. Has anyone claimed the vaccine has a prophylactic effect? I understood the claim was that it only reduces the severity of symptoms.

Well I know there have definitely been cases where vaccinated people have been infected. I haven't read any studies that claim it has a prophylactic effect, but the health minister clearly implied this in his address today, as encouragement for people to get vaccinated.

As an aside I tried earlier in this week to book in for a vaccination and all bookings are full out as far as they go, at the nearest place to me. So people don't need encouragement yet...when the capacity is strained. Obviously this comment only relates to my experience in Sydney, I am sure other places around the world have more access to the vaccines.
