The zombie cat that was resurrected 5 days after being stropped: What does science say about it?

As if it were a horror movie, a cat named "Bart" was presumed dead after being seriously run over, although days later he managed to escape from his grave to return home to his owners. This is very reminiscent of the popular movie based on Stephen King's novel 'Pet Sematary'.

As incredible as it may seem, this could be the first zombie case so to speak, of an animal that manages to defy death. The events occurred in Tampa, a city located in Hillsborough County, on the west coast of Florida. That day Bart was wandering the streets when he was suddenly hit by a vehicle. Upon realizing the fatal accident, the first thing his owners did was take him to an animal center but it was too late, because due to his serious injuries they could do little and he was declared dead. Reportedly, one of the owners named Ellis Hutson said that they did not have enough money to transfer his pet to more trained veterinarians for their care, so his last option was a public hospital of the Animal Center of the Humane Foundation Society.

The next day the cat was buried, although his stay in the afterlife would be for a short time, since it took only 5 days for Bart to return from the grave and shock everyone who found him; because this one looked like a real and terrifying zombie cat with a white and very damaged eye, and with the jaw totally destroyed by the accident; he even had some worms in his wounds. A short time later, Bart was seen wandering in the backyard of one of the houses where the owner lived, so one of the neighbors gave him notice to come and pick him up. Without a doubt, the surprise of its owners when they saw it appear was capital, because they could not believe what they saw; How is it that just a few days after seeing his pet die badly injured and without vital signs, he was able to star in a miraculous resurrection that no one could explain. Even its owner, Ellis Hutson would not stop mentioning: "A few days ago I was absolutely dead, cold, the cat was rigid, did not make any movement, nothing."

After what happened, Bart underwent several emergency surgeries. Among them, removing his left eye, and fixing his jaw and palate, for which he had to be fed through a tube while he healed completely before being handed over to his owners. Fortunately, the operating costs were paid for by the same foundation that received it previously.

HOW DOES SCIENCE EXPLAIN THIS CASE?

Silk, a veterinary doctor who has worked with animals for 3 decades, mentioned that he had never experienced such a case, although he disclosed that one of his veterinary colleagues who worked for the Human Society, knew a similar case of a dog that in the same way He had been buried after suffering a fatal accident and returned a few days later to his respective owner.

Although it is not entirely clear how this 'miracle' happened, the most logical answer is that Bart was in a coma after the severe contusions he suffered on his skull, for which he was literally buried alive while he was still in a state of unconsciousness. Fortunately, Bart recovered favorably after the operations, so it could be true that cats have 7 lives. To conclude, here is a picture of what Bart looks like today.
