The answer is 12.25. The first increment is 1.25 and every subsequent increment adds an additional 0.25.

Thank you for the stem tokens!

My answer for this one is 12.25 as well. The sequence seems to have an increment of 1.0+ 0.25*(number of steps starting from 1) which if you plug in 5 steps gives an increment of 2.5

12.25.

Increment by 1.25 for the first time then increase the increment by 0.25 for each addition increment. 1+1.25+1.5+... would give the last increment as 2.5. Thus the answer is 9.75+2.5=12.25.

It's been a while since i participated.

1 + 1.25 = 2.25
2.25 + 1.50 = 3.75
3.75 + 1.75 = 5.5
5.5 + 2 = 7.5
7.5 + 2.25 = 9.75
9.75 + 2.50 = 12.25

So answer is 12.25

2.25 - 1 = 1.25
3.75 -2.25 = 1.5
5.5 - 3.75 = 1.75
7.5 - 5.5 = 2
9.75 -7.5 = 2.25
x - 9.75 = ?
Looking at the pattern, we see that each time we subtract 2 consecutive numbers (going from the smallest to largest) the difference increase by 0.25
So x - 9.75 = 2.5
We solve for x and get: x = 2.5 + 9.75 = 12.25
Therefore the number that replaces the question mark is 12.25
