Maths Brain Teasers 37:: Can You Complete the Triangle?- Solved with Explanation

image.png

I've tried solving the puzzle; with the diagrammatic explanation in the image above and here is the step by step instruction that should lead you to the answer to the Maths Brain Teasers 37:: Can You Complete the Triangle?

  • Step 1 Numbers on the tip of the triangle progresses in an increasing fashion i.e.

Add 6 then 7 for the top

Hence have a look at the first and the second triangle top numbers;

5 + 6 Adds up to 11 for the Second Triangle top number

11 + 7 Adds up to 18 for the Third Triangle top Number

  • Step 2 Add 5 & 6 for the bottom left numbers of the Triangle

  • Step 3 Add 7 & 8 for the bottom right numbers of the Triangle

Let's have a look at the Triangle in Question;

We need to Add 5 & 6 for the bottom left numbers of the Triangle as stated in Step 2; therefore

8 + 6 = 14

Hence the Answer to the Maths Brain Teasers 37:: Can You Complete the Triangle? is 14

Answer is D.

Explaination:: 1st vertical column XRP with 5 letters difference in first two letters(X and R) and 1 in last two (R and P).
In similar way, best suited is D in last column.

I'd also go with 'D':
taking the letters by their number in the alphabet, this creates 3 division equations:
X / 2 = L -> 24 / 2 = 12
R / 3 = F -> 18 / 3 = 6
P / 4 = ? -> 16 / 4 = 4 -> 4 = D

Its absolutely 'D' as per the above commenters said but the puzzle sits wrong with me as in this kind of grid, there should also be some relationship on the verticals and diagonals too. As the horizontal lines from which we all got the answer to have a relationship but yet, there is nothing signified, then the other axis' should too in my opinion!

Best wishes mate and thanks for the daily fun :-)
