Maths Brain Teasers 125 :: Can You Crack The CODE? - Solved with Explanation

image.png

Let's have a look at the Step by Step instructions to Solve the Maths Brain Teasers 125 :: Can You Crack The CODE?

If you carefully look at the Image in question; You would have noticed the following pattern is being followed::

Ideally no pattern but rather we need to focus on the statement given/provided & eliminate numbers

Let's have a look at the first example::

image.png

With this, we know 1 Number position is correct

image.png

We now can make it that Number 2 is there in code and its position is first

image.png

This eliminates Number 6 in the first image and now we know 2 & number 5 is in code

image.png

By this, we sense the number 5 position is last & hence::

Finally, the answer to the puzzle and the number to crack the code is:: 205

At the same time will like to echo @serhotest detailed explanantion::

According to line 3 where all numbers ( 6-3-1) are incorrects we can eliminate 1 and 6 in first line where one number is correct and well placed, so the 2 is well placed:
2- ?- ?
According to line 2, two numbers are corrects but wrongly placed in (6-5-2) we know 6 is wrong and 2 is correct so the other correct number is 5, it can't be in first position occupied by 2, nor in second (wrong position) so it's the third:
2-?-5
According to fourth line two numbers are correct but wrongly placed (3-5-0), we know 3 is wrong so correct number is 0 and it fits in the last spot so correct code is:
2-0-5

Somehow stumbled here and seems fun so here goes,

First Line : 1-4-2 (one number is well placed)

  • By looking at 3rd line : 4-5-6 (nothing correct) thus we can eliminate 4 from first line
  • By looking at 4th line : 1-3-9 (one number correct but wrongly placed) note that if we accept 1 in the first line as well placed, then 4th line will have at least 1 well place number as well yet was not stated so, therefore we can eliminate 1.

Thus we have 2 as the well placed,
?-?-2, and the code is easily solved with hint from 2nd line

3-0-2

Also you made a typo with the last post final answer i think? XD

I agree with @satorihime the answer is 3-0-2

My method:

  • On line one ( 1-4-2) we have one number well placed, as the 4 is wrong according to line three we have 2 posibilities:
    1-?-? or ?-?-2
  • According to line two, two numbers are corrects and well placed (3-0-9)
The 0 is correct and well placed because it doesn't interact with previous possibilities, so the new posibilities are:
    1-0-9 or 3-0-2
  • On line four one number is correct but wrongly placed (1-3-9)
So for our previous possibilities it can't be the first (1-0-9) because we would have two numbers correctly placed.
Then only one possibility remains and we have the code:
    3-0-2
