My logic say , it is the difference of Vertical and Horizontal.

8+8=16 , 5+5=10
16-10=6

9+9=18 , 6+6=12
18-12=6

7+7=14 , 4+4=8
14-8=6

For #X 8+8=16 , 5+5=10
16-10 = 6

Fir #Y 9+9=18 , 6+6=12
18-12 = 6

For #Z 7+7=14 , 4+4=8
14-8=6

X = 2(8-5) = 6 ;

Y = 2(9-6) = 6 ;

Z = 2(7-4) = 6 ;
