Ducks

You know the saying "don't let your dreams be memes"? Or is it the other way around? Doesn't matter. This is an occasion where something dumb I found on the internet winded up on my "things to waste time on" list. The hilarious part is, I found this nonsensical picture on my Facebook feed.

The title of the book sounds ridiculous and I'm sure that was the intention. Some may think it's a fictional work about ducks and their crimes against humanity. In reality, it's a how-to guide and pure nonfiction. It could be great for those into homesteading and whatnot.

I will admit, it would have been more hilarious as a satirical parody piece about ducks and their conspiracies.

Anyways, @antisocialist actually found the PDF version of the book, the fourth edition, in fact! I'm not sure how many changes there could be between first edition and its continuation. Alas, that doesn't stop me from peeking inside the source.

For all of your amusement, here is the link to the book:

https://ia800207.us.archive.org/22/items/cu31924003102971/cu31924003102971.pdf

Turns out, the original physical copy is somewhere in Cornell University Library. There's also a notice in the book that declared no known copyright restrictions in the use of text in the US. I guess it's free game for the curious mind.

In summary, it's a book about husbandry of ducks (and how to profit from it). This makes the author's name, William Cook, quite the aptronym. It's not often I read odd books like this, let alone one I found on social media. (We also don't talk about how Twitter got me started on reading Under the Oak Tree.) Who knows? I may try and apply some things and write about it in the future when I get the chance.

Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance by Robert Pirsig is also an odd book and highly recommended

I may have to look into that even though I'm not into motorcycles.

Understood. It has meaning for people who don't care for bikes as well.

Serendipitous.

I even made it 1/3rd of the way before I went back to the web.
I'll have to unplug for a day or two and get it all read.

I imagine that'd be a rather explosive title.

I'm waiting with bated breath for a response from NETFLIX's Production execs on the idea of creating an action series.

"don't let your dreams be memes"

Yes, this saying is true and we should follow it..

The title is different but to know more about it reading the book is needed.

Gives off the same vibe as "How to Kill a Mocking Bird" title and haven't even read that yet. Ducks are more fun to raise than chickens but dirtier to clean up after. They just spurt their wastes everywhere and they have a limited time to be cute. Don't raise them, raise rabbits, they fun and delicious.

I could always go for the more traditional and boring route of chickens.

Lemme tell how you can be the richest person in the village with just two goats and two years. Raise a pair, let them breed, sell the adults and the young ones. Use profits to buy BTC on a bear market and leave some for Hive (Just in case Hive moons you get enough capital to repeat the goat raising project) and sell your BTC for a farm those new goats will be grazing into. Modern farmers incorporating blockchain technology.

Yeah chickens are ok until you have to clean their filth daily then wanting a rabbit becomes a nice option.

It was just a momentary thing. It was like I am browsing through all this serious STEM related content in the STEMGeeks community, then all of a sudden I run into this old Duck Farming/Breeding/Porn How-To Book from Pilgrim days and shit.😀

Then I read the comments and people talking about Elmmer Fudd hunting Wabbits etc.

My stroke recovering brain just went to another world I guess and found it completely hysterical.

Sorry, not taking away from the historical and science related significance of the text and post at all, I just couldn't help myself.

Light-hearted content is always welcomed.

I think people always think that everything STEM has to be dead serious when it doesn't have to.

That's a good thing, because with the renewed mental state from my recent hiatus, a fresh start to writing again, most of my content is going to be light-hearted, even R-rated at times.

I agree, I talked about this in my post when I first posted with this account a few days ago. My IT and cyber writing was often just the same old 'blah' even if the topic is interesting. Why not try and make the topic easier and more fun to read about for those interested.

And who knows, maybe it will attract those who might not otherwise be interested because they see an F-Bomb used in content they don't usually associate that type of potty mouth language with.😀

I love it.

Read it now by @enforcer48 "Duck Fucking Lessons 101" by Daffy Duck ....How to breed ducks for profit the old fashion way.
