Hi there. In this technology post, I want to cover a pizza vending machine company in Canada.
I found out about this concept recently from this Youtube video from an Ottawa Youtube channel. The PizzaForno company is a 24/7 Automated Pizzeria in North America with its locations mainly in the Ontario province in Canada. They have one US location near Detroit.
The website for PizzaForno is here

How This Pizza Vending Machine Works
According to the website, getting the pizza from a PizzaForno machine seems to be easy.
- Find a machine if it's near you.
- Order your pizza with the machine's touchscreen. Cold pizza option available for those who want to bake it at home.
- Pizza is ready in 3 minutes flat.
Pizza Options
For automated pizza, having 8 options for pizza is generous I would think. Options include:
- Meat Lovers
- BBQ Chicken
- Pepperoni
- Hawaiian
- Cheeseburger
- Vegetarian
Cold Pizza Option
It says online to remove the cold pizza from the cardboard box. Then bake it in the oven at 430 degrees Fahrenheit for 2 to 3 minutes. One to 2 minutes broil on high.
A cold pizza is $1 CAD cheaper than the hot pizza. One of the other Youtube videos does show that a hot pizza price is $11CAD or $12 CAD (May 2020 prices).
Thoughts
I was pleasantly surprised to find out about the existence of pizza vending machines in Canada. Food vending machines and automation are usually associated with Japan.
There are Youtube videos out there that feature this thing. Automation is nice but if the food quality is poor then the automation is wasted effort.
I do wonder if the ingredients used there are fresh or not. The 24/7 feature sounds nice but I wonder how are these machines replenished with the ingredients.
What do you think about this pizza vending machine idea or this company?
