What does the Hive Blockchain really Need? A Surface Evaluation

INTRO -

The Hive Blockchain has many resources that make it truly unique, like out-of-this-world special. And truth be told, there are Multiple features on Hive that can't be found anywhere else, even on the Top Blockchains that exist today, I know this from my Interactions with them and haven't found a single Blockchain that supports Hive Unique Features.
To Show you just How Great Hive is, I'll proceed to Mention some of the Features built on Hive that are Unique to it, against all other Blockchains;

  • Microblogging to Earn; This is a feature that we all love on Hive and it's what makes it Hive after all. Lasting for over 5 years, we've ceased to truly appreciate its uniqueness. Many Blockchains and web3 apps have tried to replicate this feature, but none of them has been as functional as Hive.

  • Resource Credits: RCs, a feature built to replace the issue of Gas fees, is uniquely Hive. WAX Blockchain has a similar feature but the amount of Wax u need to stake climbs up as Blockchain Transactions go up too.

  • Feeless Transactions: Hive is one of the truly, feeless blockchains, incurring zero fees across staking, gaming, and swapping tokens. This gives us wide freedom to transact at the lowest value.

Now though, It can be that as Hive has thrived hugely, and continues to in some Special Areas that have Benefited Most of its Community Members, It has also failed to thrive in other Topics that are Equally Important to its Growth and Development. I will sum up these two fields to be that; Hive has Thrived in Financially Rewarding Users and Has Suffered in its Development & Innovation.

The following points Expantitaes on some of the Issues I have Observed through my interaction with Hive and with these, I hope that I can bring them to your awareness;

Developer Community:

The Developer Community is almost non-existent on Hive, and considering there exist all sorts of Inclusive Communities on Hive, from Makeup, Lifestyle, and Even Recently, Generative AI Arts, We absolutely need to Build & Improve the Developer Community to engage Builders on Hive.
Developers are the foundation of Ingenious Ideas and Processes that can Increase the Value of Hive Blockchain and the quality of Decentralized Blockchain Applications on it.

There are some Great Apps on Hive mostly Centered Around Hive Gaming Ecosyetms(such as Splinterlands), But they are rather Unsophisticated and Lacking in Documentation and tutorials to Provide a Starting Point for Budding Devs and push them on the Right Path.

I recently got back on Hive Community after founding Portals Xperience, a Metaverse Gaming Project, but Before beginning this new Venture, and back when I was on the Hive Community, I was in Great need of Guidance, Inspiration and Technical Building Steps to get up and running, But of course, I found no Relief in this from the Hive Community.
I summed it up that The Developer Community on Hive was Poor and I wasn't too far off.

After Leaving Hive and Immersing Myself in Other Web3 Developer Ecosystems, I was able to learn a Huge lot that was Instrumental to Starting building Portals Xperience, from scratch.

Judging from my experience, we need to also realize that Gamers and Writers on Hive can also be Builders. We Need to find ways to Connect and Increase their Breadth one step at a time, and In turn, Make the Hive Blockchain a More Innovative Platform.

Transaction Unreliability

It's fair to say that Hive needs to Step up its Game when it Comes to How it Handles Incoming and Outgoing Transactions. For a Blockchain Housing Over 100k People, Its Transaction Forwarding has been Very Unreliable in recent Times. I know from experience because I've been stuck a Couple of Times due to Late Transaction Confirmation.

Hive Hanging Payments and Delayed Withdrawals are too Unreliable for a Blockchain its Size, and what's worse is that this Downtime Prolongs for Days and has been happening more frequently than is excusable. Being a Not-Too-Technical Developer, I'm Unaware of the Main Cause of the Trigger, but I can Sufficiently Put it Down to Transaction Overload just Like some other Blockchains experience in rare cases, like Solana. Regardless of what it is, Hive needs to Improve drastically on these points, for it to live up to its full capability and Serve Users Reliably.

Grants & Big Initiatives;

This is the Last Point on the List and Partially Complements the First Point, but is also inclusive of various Communities and Members of Hive from Fashion, Music, Writer, Gaming, and So on that could Connect People together and Bring Value to People Lives.

So What Exactly do I refer to here? - We need to Embrace Initiatives, Challenges, Hackathons, and Competitions that will Push Boundaries and Introduce Innovative Projects on the Hive Blockchain.
What is really cool and Almost in Excess on Hive is Small Initiatives, But sometimes, Even I get Overly Bored of Them. Small Initiatives Revolve around Things like Giveaways, Writing Contests, Generous Upvotes, and so on.

Consequently, What can Bring about Big Movements and Innovations are NOT Competitions Arranged to Meet the Specific Needs of the Creator, BUT Open Initiatives that Challenges People / Creators to Bring their Best Work to the Table. This is my Exact Meaning Here.

I can't help but find it Strange that there are no things like Hackathons, and Grants on the Hive Blockchain - You Only Have to Look at Other Blockchains to see the Magnitude of what is happening in this Regard.

Somewhat, the General Atmosphere on Hive is that Anyone can Earn their Keep by Sharing Posts, and in fact, Web3 Projects are Encouraged to Start a Blogging Presence to see the Rewards Flowing in, i.e a General Atmosphere of Give and Take. But It is Narrow-Minded WHY? Hive Is losing the Sense that it is More than Just a Blogging Platform, it is a Super Quick, Feeless, Decentralized Blockchain that could and Will be Home to some of the Most Innovative Projects.

Why can't it Start Now to Embrace Such Projects even if It Spins from Inside Or Outside it's already Established Community?

In Summary

These are Some of the Ideas I'd Hoped to Share and They Very Well Include the Topics that I could Observe Clearly From my Perspective. It's Quite Possible that I've Left Out Some other Issues Hive Faces Today But I Hope that I can start to Inspire Anyone to Bring to Light Probelmes Faced by this Awesome Blockchain called Hive and Make a Step toward Bettering them.

In my Own Little Way, I Promise to do so by; Sharing my Developer Experience so Others Willing to Walk on the Same Path can Be Inspired by and Learn from them AND Also By Actively Building Portals Xperience into a Metaverse Project that will Connect the People on Hive to Make Bigger Initiatives for Themselves, with Their Time.
