WhatsApp Rolling out Multi Device Support

Whatapp is quite a popular social media messaging platform and its a kind that the majority of smartphone users use. This is a free app however for the business account they charge as they provide some additional tools that are helpful for business users. Other applications like Telegram etc already provide multi-device support and the same account can be logged in many devices including phones, laptops, or tables but with WhatsApp, this is the limitation. With Whatsapp, we can use the app on the smartphone and can access the web version only if the app version is active. It does not even allow us to open multiple tabs and if we do the previous tabs get disconnected.

Now, this is not a problem anymore as WhatsApp has rolled out multi-device support for their beta users and soon it will be available for everyone. with the complete roll-out we will be able to use WhatsApp in many devices and there will be no need to stay active in the phone so that other work.

With multi-device support, each will now have its own identity key. This marks a change from the existing system where a user is identified by a “single identity key from which all encrypted communication keys were derived,” the blog notes. The post adds that the WhatsApp server will maintain a mapping between each person’s account and all their device identities. When someone wants to send a message, they get their device list-keys from the server.

This will make things easy and better because now when the phone's internet is not active or slow then the web version gets deactivated and it does not sync anymore. This is one of the features that was needed a long time back but finally, WhatsApp made it available to make things easy for the people who work on various devices and want their WhatsApp account active across devices.

Users will have full control over the list of devices linked with the account and they will be able to end the sessions whenever needed and its expected that WhatsApp will continue to encrypt all these messages for security reasons. Security here is very important since most of the share sensitive information many times so there is no chance of exception with data encryption.

So now those who are beta users can start using their WhatsApp on multiple devices and people who use stable versions will have to wait longer. I am excited to use this feature because now I will be able to use it on my tab as well since it will be easy.

Thank you so much
