After several years of using Manjaro Linux, I return to this GNU/Linux distribution based on the powerful and dreaded Arch Linux, and another opportunity to the KDE desktop environment, which I did not install on my PC just since that last installation of Manjaro, this time with the Plasma 5 version.

I was using daily Linux Mint with its Cinnamon desktop, of which I have no complaints and which I openly recommend to any user who wants to get started in the Linux world. But, there is always a but in linuxers, I needed to run on my machine is most recent software possible, to be up to date with the news from Free Software and Open Source, Arch Linux offers this, but I didn't want to get into installation complications, so I decided to install Manjaro.

Manjaro uses the continuous release model, but in spite of this and different to what Arch Linux offers, their updates are not daily, but they test the software before, make the necessary adjustments and then release them, this is quite comfortable and safe, I have my system updated and with the minimum possible errors (I still don't have a failure). In these 15 days only 3 updates I have had to do, the first one at installation and two more within this time span.

So far I'm using the standard software that comes with the Minima version and you can download it from their official website , it is true that it comes loaded with a lot of applications, but it is optimized compared to the full version.

KDE Plasma 5 is super light, its stability, speed and high configuration surpasses my favorite for many years xfce. By default it brings horizontal navigation panel and at the bottom of the screen, just as I like, with striking icons, very complete and configurable task manager, application launcher on the left. This is what I like about the windows system, and that I always try to configure in Linux to have it as similar as possible and that Plasma gives it to me as I need it.

The application launcher is comfortable, lightweight, well organized and visually appealing. The bottom buttons can be changed to the user's needs, in my case, from left to right, default Applications and Places; Sleep, Restart and Shutdown, I have changed them to my liking. I have nothing more to say about it, it has what it needs.

System preferences is the brain of Plasma 5, almost without installing any add-on, it allows you to configure your entire desktop environment to your liking (at least I didn't need to install anything additional), you can include some effects, opacity, themes, and a lot of options, which are missing in other environments.

Manjaro allows you to easily install several versions of the Linux kernel, by default, this version comes with version 5.15 LTS, but you can try with the most recent ones, and if you have any problem, go back to the one that best suits your hardware.

The Pacman package manager in its graphical version, is another of the jewels that Manjaro gives us, with it we can manage all installed applications, install new applications from official and third party repositories. It also allows us to check for updates and decide which ones to install and which ones not to install. It has not presented me with bugs, it is light and intuitive.

I'm back with the Firefox browser, which comes standard in Manjaro, leaving Brave, which had 2 consecutive years as my main browser, many reasons, maybe I'll comment it in another post. One problem if I have found, is that it suffers a memory overload when I'm using for a long time discord web, which freezes me and even closes the browser, this error also happens to me (but to a lesser extent) in Firefox in its version for the windows system, if anyone knows the reason, please let me know in the comments, I have not found anything related.

So far I'm very comfortable using Manjaro and KDE Plasma, at desktop level is already configured as I need, I still need to finish installing, testing and configuring work tools, such as text editors, system tools, browser plugins, among others, I'm sure I'll talk about in other installments.

Thank you very much for reading this review that I have made with love, I would like you to leave your comments if you are using this operating system or another of the GNU / Linux world. Best regards to all.
