A CRASH OF RHINOS IN A HIVE?

A few days ago, I pretty much shared my WHY, WHAT, HOW for ITSM RHINO in the STROKES SUCK AND SO DO CONSULTANTS-SOMETIMES. At the end of that post, I told you that #Hive is going to be a big part of ITSM Rhino moving forward and I would share how in a future post.

Well, welcome to the future post.

A group of cows are a herd, bees a swarm, and a group of Rhinos is actually called a “Crash.” Well, I will tell you, there is a crash of Rhinos that should be stampeding to this Hive once the ITSM Rhino launches.

In this post, I am going to talk about why I think this. Then, it will cover some stuff related to social aspects, payment processing, eCommerce and marketplace, and possibly mobile app, gamification, and other miscellaneous “goobery.“

Posting, Commenting, Curating Rhino Content

I have scrapped the idea of using the #Exxp dApp with a WordPress blog to integrate with the Hive blog front end. It is just crap in my book. I have tried it for lengths of time on two separate occasions with problems each time. It was met with shit support. I gave it one more try the other day, and it still has bugs. It hasn’t been updated on the WordPress plugin site in 11 months. It’s dead to me. Makes me vomit every time I see it on one of those Hive Ecosystem infographics. Not a good example we should be parading out in front of people as an example for sure.

So, I have moved on. Well, I moved on before this last try, so it was for shits-and-grins. I am working with a developer on ideas to integrate with blogging frontends on Hive to post, and readers can comment without being on the blockchain. However, they can join the blockchain from my blog and be rewarded and upvote if they are on the blockchain.

Gunna, be exciting to see how this pans out. It will be a custom job. I hope to push and integrate with initiatives on Hive like @comet.ranker that @wil.metcalfe put together. Then there is the #ctp community and their Hive Guide and all the cool stuff they do, led by @jongolson. As both would have a lot to offer my members as well. I will be exploring more communities and initiatives in the coming days. If you know of any that Renegade IT Pros would be interested in, let me know in the comments.

I am genuinely hoping that this will just be another small piece that pushes more awareness to Hive.

@ActiFit for Fat IT Pros

This, to me, is the dApp with some of the most tremendous potentials on Hive. What @mcfarhat and team have done will change, well are changing people’s lives. Now, I will admit using #ActiFit on my iPhone is a real pain in the ass. I keep telling myself I just don’t want to use it until they fix the user interface, but I think I am addicted. But hey, being addicted to ActiFit is supposed to be good, right? So anyway, it came to me the other day that ActiFit needs to be a part of my new website, or at least a part of my business plan.

WiTSM (Walking IT Service Management), anyone?

For those who are not IT service management students and geek out about it like me, WiTSM is a play on ITSM (IT Service Management), or FiTSM. (FiTSM is considered a lightweight ITSM, whatever the fuck that means).

Anyway, as some who follow me and my alter ego @itsmrhino might know, I do daily Rhino Walk and Talks. It is part of my recovery from some health challenges. I use the term challenges lightly, but it is what it is. I use the time I spend on the walks to talk with someone about IT, cybersecurity, business, health, leadership. We can even talk about whatever else pops to mind (no politics or religion). I share whatever knowledge I can, allowing the person I am talking to the same. I offer up FREE consulting for the length of time my walk lasts if the caller would like. However, I like to ensure the call is more like a friendly advice line with a friend than a consultation call.

The other side to this is that I stated when I came back to Hive a couple of months ago that I wanted to help more people after a long break. The IT field is a sedentary field. It can be very unhealthy. I know this from personal experience. So I am hoping that offering up my time and knowledge for free, along with some possible rewards, will encourage my members to get into motion and introduce them to Actifit and Hive for their use outside of the Rhino Walk and Talks with me.

PAYMENT PROCESSING, SITE INTEGRATIONS, AND MISC.

Hivepay

The site now has #Hivepay installed on the site and will accept Hive, HBD, CTP, STEM, and Hive-Index Token as forms of payment for products and services. If you are interested in Hivepay for your website, contact @jongolson or @blainjones for more information as it is their baby. I am not sure it works with other scripts besides the LFM membership script, but it doesn’t hurt to ask. They are the #CTP guys.

FirePay

Although not Hive, I wanted to mention it since we are talking about payment processing and crypto-related. #Firepay is also installed and working. It will accept Bitcoin and some of the other top crypto coins out there as forms of payment.

Ecommerce And Marketplaces

I am reviewing more of what Hive offers, and part of that is the NFT marketplaces. Now I don’t really know crap about NFTs, so there is a learning curve there. But what I do know is that there may be possibilities there to sell some of my templates, eBooks, and other digital goods?

Not sure, you tell me, anyone know? But, like I said, I have a lot to learn on this topic.

Some other marketplaces out there need exploring, but they just don’t look as attractive at this time. Still, I will keep them in mind and explore them later down the road for possibilities.

@DBuzz

Now, this is a dApp that I just can’t seem to stay away from. This Twitter-like beauty allows more characters per post than Twitter. However, the one turn-off is that they don’t have a mobile app. For me to have a microblogging platform, you need a mobile app for sure. There are a couple other things with #DBuzz, like I wish you could just plug the tags into the post and not have to worry about entering tags into separate fields. Still, then maybe you can, and I’m doing it wrong.

Either way, I would like to find a way to integrate this, just like the blogging aspect of things I was talking about. Looking for ideas here.

Gamification

One thing is a straight fact in this world, people love games. Marketing studies prove that people will stay on a website longer, login, engage and comment more, and just be a part of a community when it is gamified. Now you combine that with the type of members, Renegade IT Pros, a.k.a. geeks, you might have a match made in heaven right here on Hive. Between @Splinterlands and all the other games, including poker, there is a lot to gamify with and integrate into a site to incentivize people.

So that is all for now. The cybersecurity guy finished the security and penetration testing a couple of weeks ago. The coder is shoring things up from the findings on that. With lots of input from @ryzeonline, the designer and I are doing some finishing touches on the cosmetics. The money-grubbing lawyers have finished with the terms and legalese “cover your ass” statements for the site as well. Hammering out the content package plan later this week and already uploaded two packages of content.

I’ll try to provide more updates as I have enough to make it worth everyone’s time to share.
