Since the beginning of time, the way we do things have been constantly improved to be more efficient, effective, convenient, or a combination of these three. In this post, I want to focus on how technology has impacted on how the world is getting educated and taking a glimpse at what the future holds.

My Experience

I've been studying for more than two thirds of my whole life if you add up until high school and degree. This is just my schooling and not including stuff I learned from Udemy, YouTube etc. In my opinion, you should be learning something new everyday. Technology has played a huge role in making learning easier and better!

Technology has advanced education by leaps and bounds beyond what the past could have imagined. Personally, I feel technology has played the biggest role in convenience for me. I can't even imagine in the old times if I had to actually write essays instead of typing. On top of that, I can't imagine not being able to google for things I don't know. Almost everyone has easy access to learning anything from google with just an internet connection and a smart phone or laptop. However, with great power comes great responsibility, there were times that I was distracted by my devices. I wanted to sneak and watch an anime, I would be texting friends and playing too many video games. Despite all this, I feel the pros more heavily outweigh the cons. The cons are mostly due to a user issue which is irresponsibility.

Although I finished my degree already, I noticed that classes were forced to be online because of the Covid pandemic. I believe the pandemic has accelerated what technology can do for education. Lessons and exams were being conducted online; it showed that students are able to learn from the comforts of their home. Although this came with disadvantages, I believe people became more open-minded and came to a realization that classes can be conducted online. This is important as this realization could pave the way for the future!

The Future

We can't see the future however we can try to imagine it. For me, I think education will be fully digitalized. There will probably be a way for us to transport our body to a virtual world. You may think I'm crazy but this is also what people thought when the idea of going to a moon was only an imagination until it actually happened. By transporting our body to a virtual world, we are able to learn from the comfort of home as well as exercise and play sports which covers the physical education (P.E.) aspect which at this point of time is lacking. There's no way to get physical education from home due to a lack of space and people to play the sports with. Another possibility is wearing a headset that can send the knowledge straight to our brain. I could go on forever with these possibilities and there is unlimited potential. The world we live in now is nowhere near our max potential. I hope I will be able to see these things happen in my life.

In conclusion with the proper discipline and usage of technology, it can reap huge benefits to schooling and maybe in the future all that knowledge can get sent straight into our brain.
