STONE REMINDERS: PRESERVING HISTORY OVER PERFECTION

The evolution of this world has come up as the result of the contributions of some unique humans who stood out during their time and made history, some of whom may not have been recorded, and some were recorded. Their impact has so much so shaped the world that it has also brought about the existence of some laws and rules to which we live by today, because the understanding of these things, a lot have come about and the creation of monuments and tributes will be deemed fit to remember them and also these monuments could serve as a reminder to the ones after them to look out for the kind of things one will like to be remembered for.
Monuments are made in remembrance of history, people are remembered for good at the same time evil, Adolf Hitler is one person that comes to mind whenever I try to remember or think of people who has kept a bad history in the world, a person is not terrible all by himself, he always has the backing of others who believe in his mission or are as heartless as himself. In contrast, we may think that terrible people should not be remembered or made monuments of, but we should also remember that the acts of these individuals have also shaped the world, be it good or bad. People have understood and learnt a lot from all the events and happenings, which have made them more aware of the extent to which some men can go.
The argument of whether monuments or tributes should be brought down when it is later discovered that the people they were honouring were terrible humans should not be deemed as valid, for these monuments to have been built should mean that the person or persons must have had a very impactful life and have been considered fit to be remembered.
We have seen individuals who were evil and later changed their character, repenting of their evil ways and living the rest of their lives doing good and making a good and memorable impact. Understandably, no evil goes unpunished, but who are we to judge another person's character? People live and walk on the ground of this earth, and during the course of their existence, they all have things they regret. Because we are human, we are sometimes clouded by evil desires. Only when, as humans, we reach a level where we understand that all is vanity and nothing is worth achieving through evil means, do many people become guilty of evil.
The easiest thing to do as humans most times is to point finger to the next person, finding faults is what we as humans do with ease, rather than trying to make impact, we go back to history looking for faults, rather than looking for faults and questionable characters of falling heroes, why not put this efforts in trying to fix those things that we feel is wrong about the world and just maybe, we too will be remembered and have monuments and tributes built to remember us.
