Balancing Wants and Needs: A Story of My Recent Tech Investments

(Edited)

Lately, I have been having to deal with a lot of matters. It's one thing after another, and it has all been putting me on the spot with my choices. I guess that's life. And now, recently, I have had to make crucial decisions between my needs and wants, trying to categorize them and make the best out of it all. I have incurred quite the expenses in this week alone, and it would all be worthwhile if I did follow up on my entire plan; otherwise, I might have made another set of inaccuracies.

It has been a little difficult to keep up with my routines and activities surrounding the internet and everything productive with tech because of the deficiency in electricity where I reside currently. It's more like an underdeveloped area, so we only get electricity from our gasoline generator. That translates to spending to get fuel to run the generator.

This should be workable, but the problem is that the cost of gasoline keeps spiking with every disturbance in the economy. It's a problem that makes running a generator for as long as one may need it very expensive. Therefore, I always had to manage with the best I could get, which was often insufficient.

I use my PC for a lot of things, with typing being an important part of it. I'd rather stay on my PC and type for conversations than use my phone—how much more making articles—because I have gotten too used to it. However, I cannot do that as often as I need, so I thought of an alternative.

How about getting a wireless keyboard?

The idea was to use it not for my PC but for my mobile phone. That way, I would be able to write whenever and for as long as I needed without bothering about electricity—till the phone goes off anyway.

All that would be required to do that was to use two of the available methods to connect them together: the Bluetooth method or the radio frequency (RF) method. The Bluetooth method would require, well, a Bluetooth connection, while the RF method would require a USB receiver (dongle) and as well as an on-the-go (OTG) USB connector to connect to my phone.

After scouring the internet, I settled on one. It was the RF kind, relatively low-cost, very functional, silent, and, most interestingly, it came with a mouse as a combo. I dipped my hands into my humble wallet and placed an order for it. But then...

My eyes sighted something irresistible

Another model in the Freepods series by Oraimo had just been released, the Freepods 4, a successor to the Freepods 3 I had been using for about two years already. I was excited to see its release and that it cost less than I could have anticipated. I was going to look away, but I saw prospects.

Firstly, it was going for a price that seemed likely to spike after the pre-order period (the same as I found it). Secondly, there was a special offer on it for the first 100 customers before 15:00 UTC every day until the end of the pre-order sale period: those customers would get a free hair trimmer.

This is something I could do without, but I wanted it so bad. I had been wanting to change my earphones for a long time, as the ones I had been using weren't serving me as well as they did in their prime. And the previous alternative I had before, Freepods Pro, was going to cost double as much as this new one.

Once again, I dipped my hands into my humble pockets and went for them. I made sure to place the order at the best time so I could get them at that low price and also have the chance to get their free hair trimmer. The Freepods 4 comes with a lot more cool features.

Aren't these setbacks on my financial agenda?

Well, they definitely are, but my hope is to mitigate the effect on my financial agenda by earning with these new additions to my gadgets.

I have now gotten the gadgets, and my plans worked. I got the wireless keyboard and mouse combo, the Freepods 4, and the hair clipper. I was going to get a clipper in the future, but this just nullifies that idea for a while. That's great.

The keyboard is going to help me be a little less inactive when I cannot use my PC, and the fact that I got a clipper alongside the Freepods 4 cuts some future expenses down for me.

I am definitely going to come back after some time with these new additions and review them. That way, I can probably earn something from them and the toll on my plans wouldn't be heavy.

One of the things I do when I begin to allow my wants take center stage is to envisage the possibility of any futuristic financial setback. A lot of times, it's good to drown the voice and get what you want. But as for me, here's an allusion: whenever I begin to pour water into a jar, I let it full before tipping it over.

It's exactly what I am doing now. I really was only able to indulge myself in getting these things because I did have the jar filled up before tipping it over. I had to consider the fact that I would eventually need to get these items in the future anyway, but by that time I may be paying more. So, yes, I did have to drown that voice and let myself go.

I guess that was an offer you can't ignore lol. These gadgets have to be bought at the most affordable time with maximum upside. I trust your humble wallet will begin replenishing itself when you write those reviews. Looking forward to reading them :)

I really do hope my wallet gets replenished. It does take a heavy hit.

The gadgets are in the testing stage. Soon enough, the reviews will be out.

😄 Nkem, my wallet is peanuts to yours.

If I don't do something about my situation in time, I would only get more and more frustrated.

I wish I could get solar as well. I am working on it too.

Now that y0u have a keyboard, I am sure that this would increase your productivity and not having to depends on your system to create articles and also engage on Hive.

These are great pictures brother. I love it!

Oh, yes. It does increase my productivity. I don't have to think much about typing fast and needing to get fuel every now and then.

I'm glad you love the pictures, brother.
