Can we truly all be one?

This is a question that has bugged me for a long time indeed. There are movements all over the world, institutions, and agencies that are clamoring for everyone to be united and stand as one. But I have come to wonder, is it all a pipe dream or is it something that is possible even though it would be difficult to achieve?

First of all, we have to remember the fact that we all are humans. That is to say, we are individuals with unique characteristics that differentiate us from every other person on the planet. We all have our wants and needs, we all have dreams and aspirations, and we all have responsibilities. These are factors unique to each one of us that differentiates us even from those closest to us.

And then, spreading it further from there, we have the family; the smallest unit of the society. Then the society itself, before it goes out to the rest of the world. You would find that at each level, there is a marked difference and as the number of people involved increases, the more diverse their characteristics get and the more obvious their differences can become.

With such differences, we then factor in cultural beliefs and the diverse religions of the world. It would be a very difficult ordeal for everyone to simply become one, without any conflict whatsoever.

As long as there are people in the world, there will always be those who do not think like everyone else. They think differently and question laid down rules. They can be the geniuses that bring forth great inventions, or they can criminals that terrorize the neighborhood.

What I am simply saying is that as long as there are reasons for us to be together, there will always be something else that seems to tear us apart. From the leaders we have, to the economic situation, and to our choices in life. People will still hate others, people will still be greedy and want what their neighbor has, people will still love unconditionally and people will still make sacrifices even for total strangers.

And because of these differences, global unity might just not be achieved.

But then, should all the violence and chaos go on? Should we allow the hate and bitterness taking over the world to continue forever? We all know that we are different, the only common factor we have is our humanity. And that should be the focal point of any argument when it comes to issues like this.

One thing we need to learn as a specie is respect.

When we have respect, a lot of things tend to work out better. It has been universally proven. I can dislike you with passion, yet I would still respect what you do or what you believe in.

We know that everyone is different, but when we have respect for one another regardless of their background, religion, or tribe, we would find that peace that seems to always be eluding us. People will have fewer reasons to fight because they will have civilized conversations, and decisions will be made over a table or desk instead of with the barrel of a gun.

This is a more believable future, and I believe with all my heart that it can happen for real. But it requires individual effort, and we all have to be willing to respect those around us, no matter their status in life. That way, it would be easier to bring the extremities of the world down.

So, my dear friends, what do you think? Am I right in my assumptions? Is being one really a pipe dream or we can achieve world peace indeed. Feel free to let me know in the comments section.

Hmmm... yeah, we may not share the same believe but we need to respect them if their believe is not inhumane. You know some beliefs can be inhumane, in which they believe in killing and human sacrifices. Regarding to this kind of beliefs, I can have no respect for it because it is inhuman.. Any belief that does not give back respect to fellow humans cannot be given respect to.

You have a great point there. When their beliefs are borderline inhumane and have no respect for human life, then we hand them over to the authorities. It is sad that there are still some beliefs that are still active today.
Thank you for reading.

World peace comes with unity. Hate and discrimination should be stopped. we should respect everyone from ourselves then hate and discrimination will be reduced. Our small step can make a change. Be a change. Thank you for sharing such good thoughts on World peace.

Change will definitely come step by step. As long as we all are doing the little we can.
