Hello everyone, how are you doing on this beautiful day? The we are now halfway through the week and everything is going well so far.

Some time ago, I was on my way home when I overheard an argument between two teenagers. They were arguing about schools. It was a form of a debate between private schools and public schools, which one was better. And as I walked on behind them, I listened to their interesting conversation. By the time I got home, they were still arguing so I had to leave them.

But what I had overhead stuck with me. Between private schools and public schools, which one is better?

Although there are three types of schooling; they include public, private, and homeschooling. But homeschooling is not so popular in my country, except at the higher institution level. Any child that is homeschooled in the primary and secondary stage will still be considered an illiterate unless they can seat for some major exams and pass them so they can get certified.

And in that vein, I will be talking exclusively about private schools and public schools and giving my thoughts on which one was better. And know that my the school, I am talking about all levels which are from primary to higher institution.

Public schools are schools that were built by the government for communities. The running of the school is entirely the responsibility of the government. They maintain it, they staff it and they also make sure the building remains standing. And in the primary and secondary levels, students and pupils do not have to pay school fees. Education is free. All each person has to do is prepare their own uniforms, buy their own notebooks and pens and make sure they are regular in school, read their books, and pass with flying colors.

Meanwhile, private schools can be owned by an individual or group of individuals. They are the ones in charge of everything that has to be done in the school. They staff it and also maintain it. Here, the students always have to pay school fees and other small fees as well as that is what keeps the business afloat.

What are the major points of going to a public school?

Well, aside from having to pay school fees, some state governments also give free textbooks. Most government schools are always spacious and have football fields for all kinds of games. The government foots the cost of everything, from the teaching to the practical. The government takes care of it all, all that is left is just for the student to pay good attention and make his or her grades.

In government schools, there is usually more population. In a class, you can see quite a lot of students and because of this, it can be quite difficult to monitor the growth of each student. And for this reason, most students in government schools had a lot of freedom. The rules were not strict and they were easy to follow.

And the major points for going to a private school…

A more reliable and up-to-date curriculum. Due to the lesser population, teachers are able to know each of their students personally and monitor their growth. There will be events like excursions, end-of-the-year parties, and the like.

And best of all, there will be no threat of strike because the owners of the school did not hesitate to pay up their staff. The issue of strike on its own will be enough to own a post of its own, I will talk about it later.

Also, when it comes to private schools, everything is more standard and current. From the machines and laboratory equipment, everything was usually top-notch. This helped to exposit the children to the diverse technologies of the world.

So, what are the major disadvantages of government schools?

To my own understanding, government schools give their students too much freedom, and the rules there while being followed were not always followed strictly. It is in government schools you will see more cultist activities, gang fights, and the like. It is also there you will see major issues like overpopulation where students in their hundreds will be crammed into one classroom.

2dk2RRM2dZ8gKjXsrozapsD83FxL3Xbyyi5LFttAhrXxr16mCe4arfLHA37mQtCuynkak9C9VAxm3nacdB7gLmLiZLuYVhHeNsRgxL6WKJoam3hs2B7ZLAp2jwaLFEwoAbLKzAfpv2DhtyvHbJunTbU58RMbxtkvefNK4qj8EA.png

And for private schools, the major letdown was the fact that they had to pay school fees. And most of the time it was exorbitant. Also, the freedom of the students can be a little cramped, the school could decide what he wanted them to bear. Also, in private schools, you pay for everything that is spent on you. Both for practicals and examinations.

So, these are some of the advantages and disadvantages I could think of for schooling. Both the government and private schools have the same goal, which is to educate the children. Which form of schooling did you enjoy? Whichever one you choose to go with, let me know in the comment section.

So, which one do I think is better? Well, personally I do not think there is anyone that is better than the other. Both have what they are offering just as much as they have their weak points. So there is no better kind of school.

And that is my response.

The large amount of students in a government school makes it hard for students to concentrate during lectures.

Yes... So then it is usually up to the students to pay attention and learn.

Private schools are excellent..They pay attention to alot of details and things.. Public can be better and in most cases I prefer public, it offers me an experience of seeing things from a different point.

Private limits the individual, you get a sheltered life there and you do not really get to see how the world truly operates. But in government, you know right from the beginning.

I think currently, Private is certainly the best when it comes to the education system here in Nigeria.
Considering our current governmental strike that has been for over 12 weeks now and news of it to count across 24 weeks as stated by the officials of the academia.
Public school students are definitely not plotting the right graph on their academic calendar in school!
Aside from the compulsory 9 months space in 2020 during the pandemic of COVID-19, public universities have overstayed their academic schedule due to strike..

I wouldn't want to go further or to use myself as an example but let's conclude private schools being the most preferable system for academics today!

Both are of good advantages
Just that when it comes to premium learning I will nominate private and when it comes to getting exposure I will nominate public
