The Revolution will not be televised

You will not be able to stay home, brother
You will not be able to plug in, turn on and cop out
You will not be able to lose yourself on skag
And skip out for beer during commercials, because
The revolution will not be televised

The revolution will put you in the driver's seat
The revolution will not be televised
Will not be televised
Will not be televised
Will not be televised
The revolution will be no re-run, brothers
The revolution will be live

I was reading this famous 1970’s song
by Gil Scott-Heron and was inspired to write.

Perhaps this will remind someone of something 😀

The revolution will not be televised or posted about on social media…

Because the revolution is what happens when we TURN OFF THE SCREEN!

When we exit the stage and stop participating in the charade!

The revolution is in the unseen…

The caress of our beloved’s grief with tender compassion.

The asking for forgiveness and the expressions of appreciation.

Our witnessing of the holiness in the ordinary.

The honoring of our elders, our plant teachers, our children and all earthly beings as intelligent and valuable.

The meaning we create through being present with what is.

A resurrection of surrendering…the end of being sure.

The leaning into uncertainty to unravel the pretension and assumptions that keep us from peace.

Defining ourselves not through what we think we know or own, but through the ways we bring comfort, unite and open hearts.

When we realize the revolution puts each of US in the driver’s seat, what will you choose to put your energy into?

If we are glued to our screen during these transformative times, we may miss the revolution.

This one calls for US to be in the driver’s seat.

And that means taking responsibility for the quality of OUR experience, instead of “clocking in” to our phone, “clocking out” of our reality, to be told how to think or feel by puppets who are bowing down to money and power.

The revolution is not going to be a battle between one group of people and another. As we know, fighting never brings peace.

It will ride on the current of a co-created, parallel ideology that neutralizes the dominator culture.

What neutralizes the dominator culture?

Step one: Owning all the ways we dominate others or ourselves, and getting really honest about how we’ve bullied, lied, cheated, controlled and suppressed…and vowing not to do this unconsciously ANYMORE!

Step two: We have to see through the “us and them” mentality! Yes, there are puppet-masters, but they are not people, but systems and ideologies.

The puppet master is beyond human form. To feel hate or disapproval towards the puppets is to hate or disapprove of the part of ourselves that is being controlled by similar ideologies.

That part of ourselves is often blind to the fact that we are the puppet, and the very fact that these so-called “puppets/sheep” trigger us is a reflection.

Placing attention on our inner puppetry, creates a neutralizing ideology from the inside out.

What else neutralizes domination?

Deep consciousness and presence.

Tune into those areas and people in your life that deserve more attention and energy and make that your life’s purpose.

A scattered mind with flimsy values is easily manipulated and persuaded. Be SO present with your feeling sense, that nothing can distract you from your inner compass!

And finally, remember it’s not a shame game…or a blame game…it’s a re-frame game. 😀

Loving ALL of you co-creators! 💪

A step further than I have ever been in my own reflections....

The puppet master is beyond human form. To feel hate or disapproval towards the puppets is to hate or disapprove of the part of ourselves that is being controlled by similar ideologies.

That's the final connection to make forgiveness complete. I think it's also close to the origin of shame. When we are aware that we too are puppets, it evokes the question of whether or not we are right to hate ourselves and disapprove of ourselves. And that is a different question.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful response and for your generosity. ❤️ Yes I agree that seeing the world as a mirror is one of the keys to forgiveness and can save us from a lot of drama 😀. Your question in the end is very thought-provoking and I feel some resistance come up when I feel into it…that’s a good sign 😅
