Scroll & Procrastination

Greetings!

A good proportion of my day is spent on my phone, and most of the time, I find myself drifting between different apps without accomplishing much unless I force myself to stay focused. If I were to put my digital life into a movie, the best title would be: "Scroll & Procrastination."

A Typical Day Without Much Work Offline;

On a day when I don’t have much offline work, I would wake up very early, pick up my phone, and start opening apps. I mean the apps I use daily, like Telegram, saved pages like Inleo, Ecency, and Peakd, as well as Facebook, Discord, and various airdrop mining apps. Normally, I would open these apps and sites intending to complete all the tasks and daily activities there, but instead, I end up merely opening them and procrastinating. My mind settles on the thought, "I have all day since I don’t have much work today." Even with platforms I engage with daily, like Hive Blockchain, I would wake up, open the app with the intention of reading, writing, or replying to comments on my previous posts. But no, I push those tasks off, thinking, "I'll get to it later; there’s plenty of time today." This cycle continues as I visit these apps and sites repeatedly throughout the day, doing small tasks but saving the bigger ones for later, as there’s always “free time” on my free days. This way, I end up completing less than 60% of the tasks and shift the rest to the next day. The good thing about my approach to this lifestyle is that I prioritize tasks based on a scale of preference, with the most important ones—especially writing—coming first.
Once I’ve done some writing for the day, I can confidently keep postponing other tasks without feeling bad about it.

On a Day That’s Full of Work

On a busy day, my digital routine is almost the same as on a free day. I check into these sites now and then, do a small task or two, and then postpone the others until the night, assuming I’ll have time to handle everything later. For me, just checking in and seeing what’s happening gives me satisfaction, even more than completing tasks. That’s where Facebook comes in—I scroll through my feed to catch up on the latest updates. But even when I see birthday celebrations, I often find myself postponing a quick “Happy Birthday!” message, planning to do it at night instead.
Then when the night finally comes, somehow, time slips by, and before I know it, it’s already 10:00 PM. By then, my body is tired, and I’m dozing off. So, this is me if my digital life were a movie.

Thanks for reading.

This is my entry to Digi-prompts of the week.

I think we all fall short of this. Same here. I have had to ruthlessly discipline myself so I can get things done when i should.

My hands are up🙌
I've been engaging this discipline lately and I'm seeing the positive result. I hope I don't go back into the hand of devil.😅

Thank you dear.

Yeah, the answer and solution is discipline but it's hard too. I'll try to do that.

My dear, it was inleo bug that caused it. I forgot to recheck before publishing.
