Learning A Digital Skill Is Expensive

In the light of diversifying and learning new skills, I went searching for a digital skill to try my hand on. I'm not crazy about coding and design which is the current trend in Nigeria, so I don't know if I would like it or not. I decided to check for other skills that would immediately catch my attention and I found one, Salesforce.
I had stumbled on a tech training website and took the quiz I found on it. It asked questions about my interests and the results showed that I am more CRM inclined, hence, the salesforce course. It's actually right up my alley as I've previously worked in CRM capacities before and I've done a short course on CRM.
What Is Salesforce?
Salesforce is a big American company that has one of the best Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platforms. Anyone looking to manage an organization's customer and sales data can learn Salesforce. As long as they have an interest, there are many resources available online to learn with.
The site I had taken the quiz on had a charge of $600 for the Salesforce software course and I was thrown off. Although, they did say the course came with added resources and an opportunity to be connected with several employers.
I didn't think it'd be that expensive and it seemed like a rip-off (actually, it isn't). I checked the official Salesforce site and the fee was about $400 but that's sort of a learn on your own approach. There is also a free training option which doesn't offer as much as the real deal but is a good start.
I registered for free training already and if I like it, I might actually consider paying the $600 eventually for the hands-on, practical course. I'm excited about learning how to use this software and make a transition into tech without having to go through the coding route. There are other routes I'm interested in like digital marketing, but this, in particular, is familiar territory for me and I'm ready to get my brain working.

Wow, that's a lot 🙀.
But then if it'll open room for more opportunities then I guess it's worth it. Learning a digital skill isn't easy and is certainly not cheap so one has to be prepared for the cost.
I wish you good luck.. I just learned a new word , I had no idea what CRM meant
The prices I've been seeing are overwhelming. No wonder people hustle for scholarships.
Yeah true, scholarship is a real life saver. There's no way you can get one for this course right? It'll have to be an institution to offer scholarships
I don't think learning a digital skill is expensive as long as you know the places. I'd say go for the open source route and also networking. From my experience networking matters more than these expensive courses. I got a lot of free courses from friends and I never really have to pay for them.
I found a number of free courses but I think they're not as extensive as the paid ones. I'm just starting though so I can't really tell.
It's impressive. $600 is worth Alot especially when you subconsciously think of its value in our wack currency.
Nonetheless, we are in an era where people spend money to make money.
Good to see that you've started with the free version. You will be on the best position to decide if it's worth the effort. Of course, I expect you to make wise decision. Hehe.
Merry Christmas to You.
Seems like next year is well planned out for you
I don't even want to convert it to Naira. I hope it's worth it.
Merry Christmas to you too!
600$ is a lot for us as Nigerians but you have to spend money to make money and in a world where tech is booming, it is worth it.
I am currently ongoing product management training but I am so lucky that it has been paid for by my teacher.
You really are lucky. I would jump on the next tech scholarship I come across.
I really am, hopefully, you find one soon.
I am of the opinion too that learning a digital skill isn’t expensive it is almost free especially when you have determination and consistency.
skills like social media marketing, search engine optimization, copy writting , brand story telling,ui/ux design and others you can learn any of them by watching youtube videos, reading free books or taking free courses and practicing.
These skills are on high demand in nigeria and it pays well.
It's true you can get these for free but there are some courses that require you get a paid version to learn extensively like the Salesforce software I talked about.
This is great, I have worked on CRMs in the past, they should really be in companies' daily routine. They should also be combined with great marketing management to be successful!
I am happy to see you are developing your skills.
And it is nothing wrong with paying for hands-on practice, but you should consider if this will worth your money :) Keep it up!
Thank you @katerinaramm 😊
