Don't Make This Mistake When Auto Voting on Hive! My Auto Curation Was Broken Forever! Expect More Votes From Me. LOL
Back in the days of Steem I had autovoting enabled for people I want to support and a couple of trails too. When we moved to Hive I signed into the new Hive autovoter made by @mahdiyari and set up my options.. Today I realised I made a mistake and it hasn't been voting at all!
I have been so busy since Hive started, launching a company and doing many other things - I haven't had time to get too involved here beyond posting, commenting and keeping up with some political and technical developments (note: that I have significant plans for a Hive powered website and token in the future). As a result, I totally overlooked that the rules I set up for auto curation on Hive weren't being honoured.
It turns out that my Hive Power has been going to waste and I haven't been supporting the people I wanted to support - so sorry about that! @mahdiyari just explained to me that if the voting threshold is set to 100% in the dashboard settings in the auto voting app, then the voting is disabled! Not knowing this, I had set it to 100%, probably since the beginning of the Hive blockchain! So no curation for me!
I have now changed the settings, so you'll be seeing a lot more auto voting from me and the content creators who regularly post inspiring, muck racking, enlightening and helpful content that I like will finally be getting some votes from me.

It's good to know that you have realise and rectify the error, now content creators that deserve your votes will get to have them.

Yes, I probably lost a lot of payouts due to that! Oh well, it pays to pay attention in life! ;)

Welcome back again, although I miss your absent for not been consistent, everyone is born of mistakes so stop blaming yourself,the most important thing is that you have non your mistakes and can than learn from your mistakes that is the nature of life for you.

Hi, I actually don't have a lot of experience using auto voting but the faq on the hive auto voting site offers some help. In general, it's a good idea to check out the curation trails, which are groups of people who all upvote the same content (and usually each other) - to boost certain types of content. There are many curation trails listed in hive.vote. Curation payouts have changed in the latest version of Hive so that they are maybe a bit simpler than previously - as long as you vote in the first 24 hours of a post being made, you should get as much payout from curation as is possible for you.
Using the "fanbase" doesn't really mean votes go to the best content. You can delegate voting to others, which means at least a human is in the loop in deciding which gets a vote. Otherwise test posts, accidental posts get the same as the well researched ones.
yes, for sure, i still vote manually - but i am supported by some trails, so it's probably fair to support them back. at the moment, my auto votes are eating up all my vote mana - so i'm not short of people to vote on. i'll keep adjusting it as i go.
