Technology and education [Has helped students or not?]
Since technology came, we humans have so much relied on it for every one of our day-to-day activities, but has technology helped students in any way? YES AND NO.
YES, because so many schools now run online programs for those who can't visit the school campus, also it has helped even high school students in school projects and research, students now have easy access to the internet to search for whats ever they want, be it good or bad. Technology has helped a lot of schools With database recordings and to keep track of daily things they want to be recorded.
And NO because technology has made many students and teachers lazy to a point, well I can't say if it the primary level they missed instilling some basic knowledge on students or high school level, you might be wondering why I brought this topic here. Well here's my reason
I happen to visit the home of a friend yesterday, cause I wanted to get some information from her, for some days now I have been having issues with charging my phone, so that day I didn't take my phone out with me I left it with my husband who does phone repairs, at a point into our discussion with the lady,I knew it would be almost time to leave , so i could go pick my son from school, so I asked my friend for the time, she checked her phone but she then said her phone time wasn't updated, she called her eldest daughter who just finished high school and had just written the SSCE examination, she asked her to check the wall clock in her room for the time, the girl went but didn't come out until the mom shouted her name, after she came out ,she told the mom that she didn't understand the wall clock 😮at that moment i was like okay go and remove the clock and bring it let me see, after she had brought it, i looked at thee time and i was it was around 3:35pm whereabout,i said okay, so that the mum wouldn't feel as if i was making jest of her. So I told the girl the time and she was like okay, that she doesn't usually check the wall clock but rather the one on her phone, that she has doesn't really know how to tell the time from the wall clock , 😮. To say I was shocked would be an understatement,I just told the mom to teach her, and mom was angry and asked her what she had been learning in school. I was perplexed, seriously I have never heard of anyone not knowing how to tell the time.
Would I call this the fault of the school?, the mom?, or technology?. Has technology helped us in teaching kids?

hehehe - it is a shared fault I think. Many are responsible for the lessons taught in school - the student, the parents, the teacher...
but it is up to the child to be diligent! up to the teacher to be instructing. up to the parents to be reinforcing.
If all aren't working together - then a problem is there!
Also - hehehe please be sure to always go back and edit your posts before submitting. You'll have a much nicer post after going through several times. I find that when I check my post a few times - I make edits that allow for a smoother read. Of course, we often miss some things! hehehe but best to take the time to make your post as polished as possible.
That paragraph that you have starting with "I happen to visit the home of a friend yesterday," take a look at that sentence. hahahaha
It goes on for ELEVEN lines on my computer! LOL without one period! hehehehe So yes yes yes - be sure to separate those massive chunks of lines with multiple periods so that the reader can pause and take one sentence at a time. Not a very very very long run-on sentence! hehehehe

Sometimes it's not the teacher's fault why students don't learn well.. Some students are just lazy to learn their lessons lol.. And it's easier to read numbers on the phone than on the hands of the clock 🤣
I guess so too, most students are not interested In what their teacher teach, their mind always wander off. That's laziness of the highest order
What??? I would have asked how old she was but considering the fact that she owns a phone, she should be old enough to be able to tell time. Technology has made students and teachers lazy but I don't think technology is responsible for this. Time is a topic in mathematics curriculum and I'm pretty sure they don't teach it with the phone so if she can't tell the time, it's all on her.

Personally speaking I am appalled that she cannot, she should have known that before she even started school! That is down to the parents.
