Building a Ryzen 5950X Workstation Gaming PC ~ Taking my Crypto Quest to the Next Level!

Ever since AMD announced the Threadripper I have been going over the idea of 16-core processors and what that means for multitaskers. We can get so many things done, and probably run our own hive nodes at this point with high-end gaming CPUs.

The reason I decided to go with the Ryzen 9 5950X is its performance. It is the best gaming CPU on the market, I actually didn't expect AMD to beat intel with the gaming benchmarks, but after both Linus Tech Tips and Gamers Nexus released their benchmarks for the Ryzen 9 5950X with an Nvidia 3090, I was swayed from my threadripper appeal. I don't need the 64 cores of the Threadripper high-end CPU's so I can very much work with the 16 cores considering the gaming performance.

Specifications

CPU Cores: 16
Threads: 32
Base Clock: 3.4GHz
Max Boost Clock: Up to 4.9GHz
Total L2 Cache: 8MB
Total L3 Cache: 64MB
CMOS: TSMC 7nm FinFET
Package (Socket Size): AM4
PCI-E Version: PCIe 4.0
Default TDP: 105W
OS Support

  • Windows 10 - 64-Bit Edition
  • RHEL x86 64-Bit
  • Ubuntu x86 64-Bit

Part List

DDR4 RAM G.SKILL Trident Z Neo Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3600
MOBO ASUS TUF GAMING B550-PLUS AMD AM4 (3rd Gen Ryzen) ATX
CPU AMD Ryzen 9 5950X 16-Core 3.4 GHz Socket AM4 105W
COOLINGARCTIC COOLING Liquid Freezer II All-In-One 360mm CPU Water Cooler

Do you see anything I missed?

The idea is to build this while waiting for this GPU shortage to end, if it can host a witness node I will start one!

Looks like you are about build a beast , what is budget i am eager to know about that.

We can get so many things done, and probably run our own hive nodes at this point with high-end gaming CPUs.

You can run the node from what a beast you are building but here is the thing.

You have to keep your PC alive with a very good internet speed as well.

If your PC is off then your node is also down , so thats why people go with a high end suitable server and run the node without any problem.

The idea is to build this while waiting for this GPU shortage to end, if it can host a witness node I will start one!

Good luck with that , when you start your node and become a witness here I will vote for you.

I'm on a 1000 mbps line.

Budget is $2500 that's why I left out GPU, but a pre-built PC with a 5950X would be well over $5000 so I am not complaining.

great , then you won't face any difficulty i guess in running a node. just make sure the speed is consistent throughout.

And $2500 is a really a decent price specially for what you are planning to build.

I am also going to build my PC by the end of this year but my budget is not that much. I am from India and maybe i will try to build a decent gaming PC $1000 is my budget.

You can get a Ryzen 5 5600 for a good rate. Like $450.

I think you like playing PC games that's why you are planning to build so high end PC for yourself.

I recently saw a game from Resident Evil series , have you seen Resident Evil Village i think you can play that on you pc very easily after building it.
what games do you like or what games you are planning to play after you have this Pc.

When testing was done the AMD Ryzen 5950X even beat Intel Core i9 10900k by approx 40% when it comes to performance.
I really never thought that to happen to Intel , they have ruled the industry for so long but Amd is doing good and they are coming up with some awesome processors as well.
you are willing to run a node for hive so all the best to you for that.

This will actually make the gaming to become more interesting and it will also make the gamer to have a wonderful gaming experience..
