How do fake reviews affect other people

Hello everyone, I hope you are having a good day. Today I'm going to talk about how fake reviews on products and services affect other people negatively.

When we usually use an application that provides a particular service or buying something online, you will be asked about your review and rating of that particular thing; many people skip it, but others don't skip it, and they will rate it. We usually hope that those ratings are based on a true experience, and let's say a little long experience if it's some applications that you might need time exploring, but sadly not everyone thinks of it in this way.

A particular group of people rates a service/application 5 stars, so they won't be asked to rate it again, even though they might not have spent enough time using the application or if it's a service they might haven't used it at all. These kinds of people don't consider that their rating will make that current service/application appear more to people, leading others to use it and might get fooled if it's bad. Now the feedback of their dishonest rating might have different levels of affection. For instance, if it's a free application/service, then deleting it or just take back that request for the service might be enough action to do. Still, the problem gets bigger if it's something paid, maybe buying a product with a fake rating and spending money on it then what you receive is nothing of what you've ordered, that will be a big problem.

Some companies tend to use bots and fake accounts to keep their products, services, or applications highly rated, which is pretty dangerous for users. They have to be aware and spread the awareness between people so they won't fall into the same trap.

Being honest to yourself is really important, but it's no less important than being honest to other people because you don't know how it will affect others in the future, so your feedback shall be honest, and I suggest you don't rate anything unless you fully try it, not just from 1-hour use maybe.

Companies often solicit reviews. In some cases they make it known that a bad review might result in lower quality service.

As for reviews I encounter, I've learned to take them with a grain of salt. Some reviews have interesting tidbits of information, but I never trust the ratings.
