Whose moon will it be?

There is a space race again towards the moon and the powers of the world are already taking all the measures in this regard, but there have been established regulations for a long time, with which the moon cannot be territorially claimed by anyone.

At the moment there are space missions to the moon from South Korea, from Japan a private Japanese company and from the United Arab Emirates, there are Israeli missions to try again to send a ship to the lunar surface, apart from we already know China, Russia, The United States and India have also sent spacecraft into lunar orbit, attempted to land, and I assume will attempt to land on the lunar surface again.

None of those nations can claim territory on the moon, in theory, but they can establish a scientific base and that's what China and Russia are looking for, so basically what NASA administrator Bill Nelson says that China is going to breaching the agreement you have signed is possible.

In the source I leave the outer space treaty, which regulates the administration or management and space exploration, there is one more step that differentiates this issue and that is that we have the UN treaty but it is that the United States in recent For years it has promoted a different treaty, well they call it progress or expansion, it is the Artemis treaty or the Artemis Treaty that several countries have signed, not only the United States, it is signed, for example, by France, Italy, Japan, Canada and Mexico.

The Artemisa agreement is based on that of the UN, in fact, it is very similar but it introduces some variants and here is the curious point, there are in the Artemisa treaty what they call "security zones", in the UN treaty for For example, if Nation X arrives on the moon and establishes a moon base, since that moon base belongs to nation X and the territory that moon base needs is not from nation X, it is simply using it, but it cannot close the base Upon the arrival of other astronauts from other nations, who ask for help, for example, need some kind of relief or who have to go through there for some reason, you cannot close that territory.

But the concept that appears in the Artemisa program of security zones is somewhat broader and is quite defined, where permission would already have to be requested to be able to enter, it could be interpreted in this way, it is something that we will see when the bases are installed in the luna because the fundamental problem right now on the moon is not where to set up a territory base, but that there are certain key strategic points.

In the end I imagine it will be like on earth, having the ability to defend its territory, each nation will claim a piece depending on what they are looking for.

As soon as anyone starts seeing profits from the moon, all of the treaties will be broken and rewritten. They're all good while we're just exploring and building, but as soon as people start producing things there for profit, market issues will need to be addressed.
