They find Plato's tomb

Imagining that we could recover the library of Alexandria would be almost the same, but on a slightly smaller level, but it is still amazing.

The eruption of the volcano Vesuvius in the year 79 after Christ buried the cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum, it was a tragedy, many people died, but it has left us treasures such as the library of Herculinus, which is believed to have belonged to a relative of Julius Caesar, there are about 1800 charred scrolls there.

They are charred, but they are whole, they were charred whole on their shelves and those scrolls contain lost books of incalculable value, the problem is that trying to develop one of those papyri can mean destroying it, however, in recent years with the help of technology Tomography and artificial intelligence are managing to read what they contain.

We have here one of the photos of one of the rolls, well of one part of a scroll, because the scrolls measure about 10 m on average each, there are 18,800 volumes and now a research project led by a papyrologist from the University of Pisa has managed to read 30% of one of the carbonized papyri from Herculaneum, it is a work by a philosopher Epicurius called Philodemus of Gadara.

Only in that 30% of that only papyrus has it been possible to find out, among other interesting things about the philosophy of Philodemus, it recounted the exact place where the philosopher Plato was buried 2371 years ago, apparently his remains rest in a private space in the gardens of The Academy of Athens, which was the school of philosophy established by Plato.

The place would be near the so-called museum which was a temple consecrated to The Muses; Plato's tomb, I suppose they are already preparing some type of archaeological expedition to examine that place and see if they can find any reference.

Everyone knows a little bit about Plato, if they don't know Plato's extensive work, perhaps they have heard the theme of the myth of the cave. The myth of the cave inspires a lot of things, even talking about Atlantis, for example. , it is incredible; If they have only revealed a single papyrus out of only 30% and have discovered the possible location of Plato's tomb, how many things will be in those scrolls.

Normally the ancient philosophers of antiquity, Greeks and Romans, tend to present them as old men, stooped, Plato called him that because he had a huge back, Plato was a nickname, and he was also quite athletic in his youth, Plato's physique should be more like the of a nightclub bouncer “healthy mind and healthy body”.

Artificial intelligence is doing incredible things already. These are very interesting results.

I give the vote of confidence that more good things will come out of AI than bad; It's like other technology can be used for good or evil.

AI will be very interesting, and I'm also hopeful we can put it to good use.
