The Betelgeuse Eclipse

We have something curious about Betelgeuse or beetlejuice, and to clarify the name of this asteroid it is of Arabic, not English, origin, the point is that on December 12, next December 12 that Red giant star is going to go out, but don't worry it will be for an eclipse

A slightly strange eclipse, it can be appreciated by both professional astronomers and any amateur because Betelgeuse is visible to the naked eye, and these amateurs have an appointment that December 12 because it turns out that the asteroid 319 Leona, about 70 km in diameter, is going to pass directly by. in front of this Star, which will allow astronomers to make a map of the surface of this star that is about to die, it may in fact have exploded and it will still take several centuries for the flash of that supernova explosion to reach the earth, but for now this eclipse is a good time to establish a map and get more information about that star.

Astronomers from the southern hemisphere will be especially happy since the narrow strip will mostly pass through Europe. I'm not very sure because I don't know if it will coincide precisely with the nighttime hours. Obviously Betelgeuse cannot be seen during the day, but if it coincides it would be a good time for any amateur astronomer because there is going to be an eclipse of that star due to an asteroid.

Betelgeuse is a red giant star, it is close to its death, but it may take thousands of years to die or it may have died, and when it does, it will do so in the form of a supernova and we will see its flash here on Earth, there are several versions, Some say that the light that Betelgeuse would project would be twice as intense as the light of the moon, in any case, it would be an impressive spectacle without risk for us.
