Earth's new mini moon.

Could the earth capture one of these asteroids that pass nearby and turn it into a new moon, the answer is yes, although they are usually temporary moons since they can end up escaping the earth's gravitational attraction or they can end up hitting the moon or impacting the earth .

The last one that the Earth has captured, is a moon that does have a certain risk of impact, luckily it is small, there are several that it has captured, this is not the last one that it has captured; the first known was 2006 RH120, which accompanied us between 2006 and 2007; the second moon or mini Moon because all of these are less than 10 meters in diameter was 2020 CD3 detected in February 2020 and with a very small size of 1.9 to 3.5 meters; There would also be the mini Moon 2020 SW, about 10 meters in diameter, although it is suspected that this could be space debris, from a long-lost rocket.

The last one, the one that is in the news these days is 2022 NX1, a mini moon between 5 and 15 meters, was discovered by Namibian fans and Spanish researchers, these bodies have two options, to escape or continue their journey circling the sun or it crashes against the moon or against the earth, because in this case it seems that there is a slight possibility that it ends up crashing with the earth, but due to its small size, experts do not consider its impact to be dangerous for the earth.

In any case, it would be similar to or even smaller than the Chelyabinsk Bolide in 2013 and surely its impact would be on the ocean, since the oceans cover three quarters of the Earth's surface, so experts are not worried about the fact that this mini Moon ends up impacting the earth.

The chances are slim and also in the long term, because at the moment what is known is that this mini moon came close to Earth in 1981, in 2022 and it will not come close to us again until 2051, so the risk is minimal and even if there was a risk, I believe that by 2051 we would already have a planetary defense plan in case we discover that it is a real danger.
