The natural form of carbon is diamond and graphite. Carbon also occur in an impure form such as coal and in combined state as carbon (iv)oxide petroleum,wood.
one of the unique characteristics of carbon is that it forms bond with other atoms to form carbon frameworks to which atoms of other elements are attached. This ability of carbon is called catenation.
Carbon is also an essential constituent of all living things.
The existence of a substance or an element or a compound in the same physical state of two or more structural form is known as allotropy. Carbon can exist in three different allotropic form which are 1)diamond. 2)graphite.3)amorphous carbon. These are the three allotrope of carbon.
