Good afternoon appreciated community of gems, today I continue with my story, this time about the museum half of the world, in this place there are a series of experiments, and models that simulate the behavior of the planet, the poles, the magnetic field, coriolis effect, and many more interesting things. For example if you can observe my first photo you will notice that a scale points out my weight, in the sun, the moon, the north pole, and inside the monument.

Buenas tardes apreciada comunidad de gems, hoy continuo con mi historia, esta vez sobre el museo mitad del mundo, en este lugar hay una serie de experimentos, y maquetas que simulan el comportamiento del planeta, los polos, el campo magnético, efecto coriolis, y muchas cosas mas interesantes. Por ejemplo si pueden observar mi primera foto notaran que una balanza señala mi peso, en el sol, la luna, el polo norte, y dentro del monumento.

Upon entering the museum there is a kind of 2d projection, very interesting to see, it even has sound, and it welcomes us to the museum, it also explains some things about Ecuador, its people and culture, all this is just a few seconds. The welcome is in English, and in Spanish if you press the button again.

Al entrar al museo hay una especie de proyección en 2d, muy interesante de ver, incluso tiene sonido, y nos da la bienvenida al museo, ademas explica algunas cosas de Ecuador, su gente y cultura, todo esto es unos breves segundos. La bienvenida esta en idioma ingles, y en español si oprimes el botón nuevamente.

You could also see a holographic projection, about the first inhabitants of the earth, how the beginnings were, and how they discovered fire, all narrated in Spanish or English.

También se podía observar una proyección holografía, acerca de los primeros pobladores de la tierra, como fueron los inicios, y como descubrieron el fuego, todo narrado en español o ingles.

Inside the museum there is a model, which simulates the movement of the earth around the sun, and explains about the Equinoxes and Solstices, what we know as Winter Solstice (or December), Summer Solstice (or June), Autumn Equinox (or September), Spring Equinox (or March), are summarized in the 4 seasons for us, Winter, Spring, Summer and Autumn.

Dentro del museo hay una maqueta, que simula el movimiento de la tierra al rededor del sol, y explica de los Equinoccios y Solsticios, lo que conocen los atronamos como Solsticio de invierno ( o Diciembre), solsticio de verano (O Junio), Equinoccio de otoño (o Septiembre), Equinoccio de primavera (o Marzo), se resumen en las 4 estaciones para nosotros, Invierno, Primavera, Verano y Otoño.

The following model explains in more detail how the stations work, when they start and when they end, and also explains that each station is different in each hemisphere of the planet. Also the guides explained to us that the Equinoxes happen, when the sun is above the Equator, this implies that the duration of the days is almost equal to the nights, and the Solstice means that the sun is still, reason why the sun reaches the highest point in the planet.
The sun's rays indicate with greater intensity over one part of the earth, while the other part is darker.

La siguiente maqueta explica con mas detalles como funcionan las estaciones, cuando comienzan y cuando terminan, ademas explica que cada estación, es diferente en cada hemisferio del planeta. También los guías nos explicaron que los Equinoccios ocurren, cuando el sol esta por encima del Ecuador, esto implica que la duración de los días es casi igual a la de las noches, y el Solsticio significa que el sol esta quieto, por lo cual el sol alcanza el punto mas alto en el planeta.
Los rayos solares indicen con mayor intensidad sobre una parte de la tierra, mientras en que la otra parte esta mas oscuro.

One very interesting thing is the explanation of how the magnetic field of the earth works, the earth has a big magnetic field surrounding it, except for the north pole and the south pole as you can see in the experiment, that's why compasses don't work in the poles.

Una cosa muy interesante es la explicación de como funciona el campo magnético de la tierra, la tierra posee un gran campo magnético rodeándola, a excepción del polo norte y el polo sur como se puede ver en el el experimento, es por eso que las brújulas no funcionan en los polos.

They also explained to us how the rotation of the water, on one side of the equator and on the other side, turns in opposite directions. And in the centre of the line, the water falls without turning anywhere.
And also how the ferrofluid works, I don't remember very well the explanation, but in wikipedia it is super detailed for those who are interested.

También nos explicaron como funciona la rotación del agua, de una lado de la linea ecuatorial y del otro lado, giran en direcciones opuestas. Y en el centro de la linea, el agua cae sin girar a ningún lado.
Y ademas como funcionaba el ferrofluido, no recuerdo muy bien la explicación, pero en wikipedia esta super detallado para los que estén interesados.

I also remember that in physics we once saw something about the Coriolis effect, and in this museum I understood that it is the force generated by the effect of the rotation of the earth, this is the effect caused by placing a coin on a record player, when the record player is accelerated the coin moves in the direction of the rotation or moves away from the center, it tends to come off the record player when the speed is high, maybe I am not very right, but it is what I remember from my university physics classes, the "angular momentum", which is based on this effect.

Recuerdo también, que en física una vez vimos algo referente al efecto Coriolis, y en este museo comprendí que es la fuerza generada por el efecto de la rotación de la tierra, este es el efecto que causa colocar una moneda sobre un toca discos, cuando se acelera el tocadiscos la moneda se mueve en dirección al giro o se aleja del centro, tiende a salirse del tocadiscos cuando la velocidad es mucha, quizás no este muy en lo cierto, pero es lo que recuerdo de mis clases de física universitaria, el "momento angular", que tiene como base este efecto.

And finally my favorite, a tesla coil, I definitely love to see these experiments, since my career is Electrical Engineering, everything related to it calls my attention, as well as this invention that Nikola Tesla designed.
In this case, it was a plasma lamp, as it is less dangerous to handle for the children who visit this museum.

Y por ultimo mi favorito, una bobina de tesla sin duda alguna amo ver estos experimentos, ya que mi carrera es Ing. Electrica,todo lo relacionado con ella me llama mucho la atención, al igual que que este invento que diseño Nikola Tesla.
En este caso, era una lampara de plasma, ya que es menos peligrosa de manipular para los niños que visiten este museo.

There were many more experiments, but unfortunately I don't have those photos, however, I hope you like the ones I shared with you, it was a wonderful experience, and the best part of my trip, just like this museum I was able to enter the planetarium and it was even better. Habían muchos mas experimentos, pero lamentablemente esas fotos no las tengo, sin embargo, espero que les guste las que compartí con ustedes, fue una experiencia maravillosa, y lo mejor de mi viaje, al igual que este museo pude entrar al planetario y fue aun mejor.
