To be honest, this is a sentence that I had to read twice before I understood it completely, the main reason being that my native tongue isn't English. In other words, there are several words there that I actually had trouble understanding, which means that I had to actually do some work before I highlighted it in the book I was reading.
Being sedentary too much not only makes you unfocused, anxious, and depressed...
This led to the first question - what is being sedentary? Well, it depends on the circumstances, but in general, it is about doing work that requires little to no physical activity or simply sitting a lot.
In other words, if you sit still too much, it will not only make you feel unfocused, anxious and depressed, it also makes you think slower because it impairs your cognitive skills. And that led me to the second part of the sentence...

it also makes you think slower because it impairs your cognitive skills.
What is this about? When something is impairing, it is decreasing in quality, or diminishing in function. It is getting worse. But, what are those cognitive skills? A cognitive skill can be remembering, thinking, or simply understanding.
And so, if you have read through the explanations, we end up with a saying telling us something like this.
If you lack physical activity (sit too much), it will not only make you unfocused, anxious and depressed, it will also make you think slower because it is destroying your ability to remember, think, and understand!
Now, that is kind of brutal, isn't it? But it is true! What is it all about? We sit so much in front of our computer, in front of machines, and it is destroying our bodies, but not only as we turn overweight... it also has a negative effect on our brains.
So once again! Try to get up, move around, go for a walk, buy a cheap bicycle (or borrow one), and use it for 30 minutes, or go for a run! If you do so regularly, it will help your body and your brain, and it will make you feel better!
